A Look at beyond Pixel 11: Why a Googlebook launch event is likely

Although Made by Google, the firm’s biggest annual launch event for new devices, took place last week, it’s unlikely to be the last of this year.

The simple reason for that is Googlebooks. Its new laptop initiative which combines Chrome OS and Android was first announced back in May, but only as a look ahead, stating that autumn was the launch window for the first wave of devices.

There’s nothing official yet, but it feels likely that Google will host a dedicated Googlebooks event for a number of reasons.

A few Googlebooks have been leaked recently, including models from Lenovo (below), Acer and Asus. That makes sense because we’re getting towards the end of summer and the start of the autumn (fall) launch window.

Note that Googlebooks didn’t play a part in last week’s event as it was dedicated to own-brand devices like the Pixel 11.

There are a number of theories suggesting that Googlebooks will be announced at IFA 2026, the tech show which takes place in Berlin every September. It starts on 4 September 2026.

This makes a lot of sense as Google’s partners, which will be launching devices (Google won’t be making its own this time around), typically have stands at IFA to show off their latest wares.

However, not all are listed as exhibitors on the official website and the new devices would be fighting for the limelight with hundreds of other brands and devices. Even if the brands not on the list are holding events off-site, it would be a disjointed launch effort.

At most, I think we might see one or two behind glass simply so attendees can see a design in the flesh. We’ve seen similar in the past, such as the Samsung Galaxy Ring and Galaxy S25 Edge.

I think Google is more likely to hold a proper event with its Googlebook partners once the noise of IFA and Apple’s September iPhone event are in the rearview mirror.

Perhaps late September or even in October, the month it used to launch new Pixel phones. After all, it’s too big a deal for a simple blog post announcement and for new Googlebooks to get lost on an exhibition stand among the other eye candy.
