Google Pixel 10a could have a key advantage over the iPhone 18e
Specifications for the Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 18e have leaked, confirming that it’ll have at least one major disadvantage compared to mid-range rivals such as the Google Pixel 10a.
We quite liked the iPhone 17e when it rocked up back in March. Here was a strong entry-level iPhone with an appealingly compact design, excellent performance, and solid battery life at a relatively reasonable price.
Our biggest criticism of the iPhone 17e, however, was that its 6.1-inch display maxed out at a 60Hz refresh rate. That’s literally half of what the Google Pixel 9a (and every other Android rival) had to offer at the time of launch.
Now regular tipster Digital Chat Station has offered an initial spec rundown for the iPhone 18e, and it doesn’t seem that Apple has done anything to address our pet peeve.
According to leaker’s Weibo post, the iPhone 18e will feature a 6.12-inch 60Hz LTPS OLED display, much like its predecessor.

iPhone 18e performance and camera
In more positive news, it’ll run on Apple’s own 2nm A20 chip, which will be made of similar stuff to the A20 Pro that powers the iPhone 18 Pro.
This is almost certain to give the Google Pixel 10a (and the Pixel 9a) with its weedy Tensor G4 chip a good pasting in the performance stakes.
Finally, the tipster claims that the iPhone 18e will feature a single 48Mp camera, much like the iPhone 17e. However, the front camera may be upgraded to 24Mp.
We’re expecting the iPhone 18e to launch some time in early 2027, likely alongside the regular iPhone 18.
Apple chose to introduce its brand new iPhone Duo foldable alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, seemingly shifting its regular model to a later launch window.
