I finally figured out the Pixel 11 teasers You Should Know
Google has been officially teasing the Pixel 11 series of phones for the last couple of weeks, leading up to the big New York event, and the penny just dropped on why they look like they do.
Apart from a couple of posts, Google’s teasers for the Pixel 11 have shown off a shiny gold frame (and camera bar surround) while keeping the rest of the phone hidden.
As you can see, everything else is black, giving it an air of shadowy mystery. Well, it’s an air quickly blown away by the excessive amount of leaks, which almost certainly confirm that this is the new Dune or Canyon hero colourway of the Pro models, shown from various angles and marketing materials to boot.
I figured Google simply wanted to keep this secret until the launch event, then something in my brain twigged… it looks like a solar eclipse. Sure enough, there’s one due on 12 August, the same day as the Made by Google event.

I had also been wondering why Google didn’t choose yesterday, 11 August, as the date, considering the number matches the generation, but it seems the natural phenomenon is the reason.
What Google is trying to say about its new phones and the solar eclipse isn’t overly clear. Perhaps that they’re a rare sight or just that the Dune colourway has that sort of style – I’m not sure, so we’ll have to wait and see what Google says on stage.

Until then, the firm did recently give a much clearer (if brief) look at the bright orange model and has now shown the new green option for the first time. It’s thought to be called Pine or Olive and should be available across all the Pro models, including the 11 Pro Fold.
There’s just over 24 hours until Made by Google kicks off, but oddly, you’ll be able to pre-order a Pixel 11 many hours before then if you wish. Colour me Canyon confused.
