Samsung isn’t done with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 yet
Samsung is reportedly working on another new addition to its foldable range, to sit alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 9.
The South Korean company was the first to market with its wide foldable concept, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, which debuted alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra back in July.
Clearly buoyed by strong sales, Samsung is said to be working on yet another foldable phone option for mid-2027.
Leaker Lanzuk reckons that Samsung is testing two potential additional variants of the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 9. One is a larger model – a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 9+, if you will.
The other is a more accessible Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 9 FE with trimmed down specs (and price point, presumably), but the same basic dimensions as Samsung’s stock wide foldable.
Only one of these models will be selected to sit alongside the regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 9 in an expanded foldable line-up.

Samsung’s big foldables push
According to the claims, Samsung is yet to make a decision about which of these phones is going through to production, but it seems that decision will be made soon.
It certainly chimes with recent reports suggesting that Samsung is looking to shift its focus away from its affordable A-series phones and towards its more lucrative Galaxy S and Galaxy Z flagships.
Samsung hasn’t been shy when it comes to experimenting with the foldable format. Not only did it lead the way with its Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series, but it has also launched the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold in the past year – albeit only in limited markets.
Reports suggest that the company has been working on a follow-up to that phone, alongside a Samsung Galaxy Z Slide concept with a screen that slides rather than folds.
