The Galaxy Watch 9 might copy the Pixel Watch 4 You Should Know
Samsung has now officially confirmed we’ll see a new generation of Galaxy Watch at the upcoming Unpacked event on 22 July, and the teaser hints it might copy a key Pixel Watch feature.
“Discover how the new Galaxy Watch empowers you to take control of your wellness and live a healthier life within a connected AI ecosystem,” Samsung says in its latest announcement.
The short blog post is heavily focused on the benefits of AI on the new Galaxy Watch 9 (the Watch Ultra 2 is also expected to be announced at the event), but there’s also a short video as part of the teaser.
It shows lines and lines of text in the shape of a watch, then someone slides a piece of glass to magnify the image (as you can see above). It mainly shows the words ‘All-new inside’, but could this also hint that it will get a key Pixel Watch 4 feature? I think it could.

Google introduced the Actua 360 display on the Pixel Watch 4, which has a custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 offering a domed effect. It gives the display a slightly magnified look as you can see above, though more subtle than Samsung’s teaser.
It seems as if Samsung will stick with the divisive ‘squircle’ design for the Galaxy Watch 9, as hinted by the shape of the text, and the circular glass in the middle. Leaked renders of the device agree, though don’t appear to show a domed screen.
Read the small print
Aside from mentioning AI, there’s perhaps more to learn when reading the tiny text of the teaser video (which repeats over and over).
It says, “The newest watch features a sleek shape, a comfortable titanium design and a crystal clear display. Superior long-lasting battery life and a brand-new processor with enhanced efficiency.”
Just from that, we have confirmation of a new processor (set to be a switch to Qualcomm and its Snapdragon Wear Elite) as well as a titanium design, which would be a change for the Galaxy Watch 9 unless Samsung is referring to the Ultra 2.

It goes on to say, “More than just fitness, your personal health coach for nutrition, exercise, sleep, and vital mental health. Built for extreme trail running, ocean diving, cycling, and intense workouts. Stay safe anywhere with compass.”
“Just raise your wrist and speak to your AI to get things done” and a lot more about automatic tracking, scores and the usual things we’d expect from a smartwatch.
It ends with “Get ready to meet the better version of yourself with energy, persistence, and stability”.
We’ll find out all the final details at Galaxy Unpacked next week, so there’s not long to wait.
