This five-star iPhone is looking much more tempting after Amazon’s latest discount

The iPhone 17 Pro Max was one of those review phones we were reluctant to send back. Its cameras and battery life impressed us, but the price was harder to love. And now, good news! Amazon has an iPhone 17 deal on the Deep Blue model.

The 256GB model in Deep Blue is down to £1099, against the listed £1199 price – a £100 saving, or just over eight per cent. The same saving applies to the 512GB version at £1299 and the 1TB model at £1499, if you need more space for photos, games, and downloaded films.

In the US, Amazon’s unlocked Deep Blue options are refurbished Renewed Premium models. Prices are $124.96 for 256GB, $1429.97 for 512GB, and $1498.84 for 1TB. These are separate offers from the new UK phones above, so bear the condition in mind when comparing prices.

Stuff’s Dan Grabham gave it five stars in our iPhone 17 Pro Max review. The telephoto camera was a highlight – he found zoomed shots brighter and more detailed than those from the iPhone 16 Pro, with impressive results in good light.

There are three 48MP rear cameras – main, ultrawide, and telephoto – so you can fit more of a scene into the frame or get closer to distant subjects. The telephoto offers 4x optical zoom, plus an 8x optical-quality option that uses a crop of the sensor.

The 6.9in OLED screen gives you plenty of space to look through your shots, watch a film, or play a game, with up to 120Hz ProMotion keeping movement smooth. Inside, the A19 Pro chip has vapour-chamber cooling to help it maintain performance during longer gaming sessions or demanding video shoots.

Battery life was another reason Dan liked it. He could just about get through two working days with reasonable use, although most people should expect to charge it during the second day. Apple says a compatible 40W or higher USB-C adapter can charge it to 50 per cent in 20 minutes. You’ll need to supply that separately.

At £1099, it’s hardly an impulse buy. But if you’ve already decided on a Pro Max, that’s a £100 iPhone 17 deal you can keep in your pocket without trading in your old phone or signing up for a contract.
