Understanding a TV brand just made the most interesting phone of 2026

Sometimes a new phone comes out of the blue and a TV brand just made a really interesting handset, and no, I don’t mean Samsung.

Hisense, the Chinese brand you might also know for white goods like fridges, has announced the A10. It’s perhaps not the best name with the existence of the Samsung Galaxy A17, but we can put that to the side for now.

What’s interesting about the Hisense A10 is that it has a dual-screen design. Rather than a foldable to take on Samsung, Motorola and the like, it’s a screen which is detachable.

The colour LCD screen can be used for various tasks, and when you’re done with it, just remove it as it pops on and off with magnets. It’s reminiscent of the YotaPhone models from over a decade ago, which had a permanent e-ink screen on the back – I loved it at the time.

The tagline of the teaser images says, “This time, it’s not just e-ink screens that are making a comeback” (machine translated).

Hisense

It seems, however, that the Hisense A10 doesn’t come with this accessory in the box. Instead, it’s an optional accessory, according to tipster Experience More.

Elsewhere, the phone isn’t particularly typical either. The main 6.13-inch screen on the front is a monochrome e-ink display and there’s just a single rear camera. It’s 4nm processor with 8 cores could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but details are still to be confirmed.

The Hisense A10 is expected to retail in China for around CNY 3,999, which is around £440/$590 in the mid-range category. It may not launch outside of the firm’s home territory, but it’s definitely piqued my interest.

With more phones adding Qi2 magnetic charging in the Android world following the Google Pixel 10 series, I hope more accessory brands can come up with gadgets like this.
