Xiaomi’s next phone set to smash European battery records You Should Know
Xiaomi has teased the global availability of its Redmi Note 17 Pro Max – a new affordable phone with an extraordinarily large battery.
Over on its official Mi website, Xiaomi has posted a teaser for a Redmi Note 17 series launch on 27 August. Leading the series will be the mid-range Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, and the company leaves no doubt as to its headline feature.
We’re talking about its 10,000mAh battery. That’s huge by anyone’s standards, but it’s particularly noteworthy for the European market. Thanks to restrictive (and logistically costly) European laws, Chinese manufacturers often supply smaller batteries to the European market than they do to the domestic variants.
At 10,000mAh, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max’s battery is comfortably the largest we’ve seen on these shores to date. Outside of rugged phones, but we doubt most people are seriously considering them.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max specs
Elsewhere on the page, Xiaomi speaks about the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max’s 100W wired charging – which presumably you’ll need to get such a large cell charged up in anything approaching a reasonable time.
The page also speaks of the phone’s three-metre drop resistance, as well as its extensive IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance. That’s better than most of the best phones you can buy!
It’ll be fronted by a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display, and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip, together with 12GB of RAM.
Xiaomi says it has employed photochromic technology to produce a striking “Cloud Blush” finish, which apparently “reacts to sunlight with a seamless transformation”.
It sounds like an impressive budget phone package. All we really want to know now is how much it’ll cost, given the price hikes that have swept the industry in 2026. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ hit the UK in January at a price of £429, so we could be looking at a mid-range Google Pixel 10a rival here.
We only have a little over a week to find out.
