“@bbilly McQueen rode a “stolen” German military camp motorcycle which was a modified Triumph TR6 Trophy in The Great Escape. A period-correct BMW or Zundapp weren’t up to the physical task. McQueen did all of the riding except for the 60-ft jump over the barbed wire. Insurance restrictions limited that scene.”

“Exact car, down to the color, my Uncle had. My parents borrowed it in August, 1959 when we went to get our first Weimaraner from some people in Illinois. My first dog, remember the trip, I was 4. We had a DeSoto 2 door sedan (1952) at that time, unsuitable for transport of a very large pup!
Paint was dull on his wagon I recall. Downright chalky. Within the next year or so he traded it on a brand new Ford Taunus wagon. (Now there’s one you NEVER see.)”

“Kudos to the seller for all of the pics! For those of us who’ve been around BaT for awhile you may remember the BaT feature “Where They Rust”. This car before the resto would have been an excellent submission. I applaud owners who see a car in that shape and decide to dedicate the time and money to bring a car back to life. You have my respect.
This is a cool build that appears ready to be enjoyed today. It’s really nice but not so precious you’d be afraid to drive it. And the AC is…”

“She’s a beauty, the subtle differences that come with the Sport Edition add up to make the final years of the 3rd gen really special, especially when wrapped in a great color like Millennium Silver Metallic or Thunder Cloud Metallic.
Being one owner west coast well documented is the icing on the cake and guarantees an exciting ending……and let’s not forget No Reserve!”

“I’m a Corvette girl. I grew up with a dad who restored them. His first Corvette was a ’57 that he used to race. He decided to make it street legal in the mid ’60’s and had it on the road 3 days when a lady ran a stop sign and busted up the front end. He put a new front end on it, and it’s been sitting in the garage waiting to be restored for the past 50ish years. I’m 50 and it’s always looked a bit like this Elva, though the undercarriage and the body are pristine–just raw because it’s been in…”

He recently passed away and when I saw this car it took me back to that moment in my life and it made me smile.”

“Cars were built a la carte in those days. Note that the window sticker lists it as a “sold car,” meaning that it was ordered by the customer in advance, and built by the factory to his specifications. B-body Plymouths used completely different sheet metal and wheelbases between 2 door and 4 door models in those years, with these 2 doors having a very high style. The guy probably just wanted a stripper 2 door which was a common configuration in earlier years. I remember an older gentleman in our…”

This is the perfect opportunity for a higher volume dealership, museum, or someone looking to jump all in on this business with benchmark level equipment. “As the 3rd owner of this wonderful car I can tell you it was my pride and joy from roughly 2009-2014. All records and receipts from Esoteric and San Antonio Texas were mine. Car was a later production VIN so had a couple unique and relatively rare options … Rosso scuderia brake calipers … only available in the later production run as many cars had Rosso corsa calipers even though the exterior was spec’d in Rosso scuderia … one of those details that ‘if you know you notice’

Tried twice from a well known UK supplier and they both failed. Found a Cicogna made part at a German supplier which finally worked.”

“This is Gene Winfield and VooDoo Larry quality imo. I like how there is just enough chrome trim left on the beltline, rear valance, and bumpers. With it being nosed, decked, shaved door handles, and the sectioned trunk lid. That and the frenching of the headlights and taillights. Leaves just the right amount of chrome.
The interior is super clean, the center console around the shifter, and the shifter itself reminds me of a mid 70s Camaro or Firebird.
