The Mohr Imports Monterey Car Week Collection

Mid-August is just around the corner, and our friends at Mohr Imports are back with the seventh(!) installment of their Monterey Car Week Collection. This year’s is as eclectic as ever, with a heavy focus on German sports cars this time around. There’s also a quartet of Cobras and Ford GTs, a 16M Scud, an Aston dressed in Ferrari colors, and one of the rarer variants of the Lotus Esprit. The collection encompasses 22 cars in all, spanning from 1957–2022. As a Bring a Trailer Local Partner and a mainstay of the Monterey collector car community for over 40 years, Mohr has provided a series of tour videos featuring the cars from the collection, which showcases many highlights that the area has to offer. They’re calling it “The Local Partners Insider’s Guide to Monterey Car Week” and it’s definitely worth a look.

2006 Ford GT and 1,600-Mile 2022 Ford GT ’64 Heritage Edition

We’ll start the fun with a pair of Ford GTs, one from each modern generation. The 2006 car is one of five finished in Tungsten Metallic from the factory, and features silver over-the-top stripes, forged BBS wheels, and McIntosh audio. The 2022 model is one of 27 ’64 Heritage Edition cars with a livery paying tribute to the first GT40 prototypes. This car was ordered new for a Ford employee, and while the list of extras beyond the Heritage Edition package is limited to titanium lug nuts and six-point harness anchors, the list of standard equipment contains all manner of exotica like a carbon monocoque tub, active aero components, pushrod-actuated suspension, and a Gorilla Glass windshield.

11k-Mile 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M

After winning their sixteenth Formula 1 constructor’s championship in 2008 (with Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen doing the driving), Ferrari issued a commemorative run of 499 specially-equipped 430 Scuderia Spider 16M cars. This was no mere badge job—the 16M got a reinforced chassis and retuned suspension with ZF dampers and titanium springs, as well as lightened bodywork via extensive use of carbon fiber. The end result is the apex predator in the 430 lineup, pushing an incredible 503 horsepower out of its 4.3-liter F136 V8.

2001 BMW Z8

BMW has been turning out cars in lovely shades of blue for longer than most of us have been alive. Right in the middle of the palette—among the Baikals and Lagunas and Estorils— is Topaz Blue, the color specified for this lovely three-pedal Z8. A factory hardtop and a 100-piece collection of Z8 memorabilia are included in the sale, and the car has benefitted from approximately $10k in recent service.

48k-Mile Modified 1992 Acura NSX 5-Speed and 2000 Honda Prelude Type SH 5-Speed

An NA-series NSX is a car that’s difficult to improve upon, but this example features a host of tasteful mods designed to sharpen the driving experience: a GruppeM air intake, Spoon Sports headers, a Saclam Spec A exhaust system, NSX-R and Type S Zanardi suspension components, Öhlins adjustable coilovers, Spoon Sports brake calipers, Mugen M7 wheels, a MITA short shifter, and more. Both the NSX above and the Prelude below came to the collection from owners in Hawaii.

We’re glad that Honda brought the techy sport compact Prelude back for 2026, and cars like this fifth-gen Type SH are exactly the reason why. Its feature technology was the ATTS differential, which transferred up to 80% of the engine’s torque to the outside front wheel during cornering. This example has received some tasteful upgrades like JDM foglamps, an AEM V2 intake assembly, a Fujitsubo exhaust, and Tein Flex Z coilovers.

1986 Porsche 944 Rothmans Challenge Race Car

Forget homologation—just make all the cars race cars! That was the idea behind the single-make Rothmans Challenge, a Canadian series that featured a grid of “showroom stock” Porsche 944s stripped of unnecessary equipment and outfitted with roll cages. This car (which is Pastel Beige, not white) was raced by Ray Coffey, while others were helmed by drivers like Dave Donohue, Ron Fellows, and Derek Bell.

One-Owner 1993 BMW 850Ci and One-Owner, 20k-Mile 2016 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe

These two BMWs are sophisticated automobiles, both stylistically and mechanically speaking. Because of this, ownership history is everything, and both cars were kept by the same gentleman from new in a collection in Pebble Beach. This silver-over-gray E31 shows 79k miles, and the owner, like many appreciative caretakers of German vehicles, he has been fastidious with documentation; the car is accompanied by an encouraging ream of invoices from California BMW dealerships. The FXX 6-Series can offer an unbelievable amount of bang for the buck, particularly a low-mileage, face-lifted example like this one (which is being auctioned at no reserve). The amenities found within are the equal of almost any new car on dealer lots, and its 540 horsepower is right in line with the absurd levels of power currently available to luxury car buyers.

15-Mile 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera T Club Coupe 6-Speed and 19k-Mile 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S

Fresh off the assembly line is a 992.2 Carrera T Club Coupe—one of 70 built to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the PCA. This car comes out of Beaverton, Oregon, showing just 15 miles, and features a SportDesign front fascia, staggered RS Spyder wheels, 18-way adaptive Sport Plus front seats with plaid inserts in PCA colors, and the Club Coupe & Club Coupe extended packages. The next late-model Porsche in the collection is a 991.1 C2S in Carrara White, named not for the Carrera model but for the famed variety of Tuscan marble. Its equipment list includes the Premium Package Plus with 14-way power-adjustable sport seats, the Bose Audio Package, a glass sunroof, a SportDesign steering wheel, clear taillights, 20″ Carrera Classic wheels, a sport exhaust system, and a seven-speed PDK automatic transaxle.

1968 BMW 1600 GT

When BMW absorbed Glas, they left Frua’s design for the Glas GT largely intact (apart from adding kidney grilles and roundels), and swapped in the sturdy M10 four and accompanying driveline from their Neue Klasse 1600-2. This French-market example was ordered in Chamonix, and was refurbished by Oldenzaal Classics in the Netherlands around 2018. It subsequently came to the US, and is presented with a BMW Classic Certificate, a stamped maintenance log, and refurbishment records.

1972 BMW 1602 and 1974 BMW 2002

The collection contains two more M10-powered cars built in Munich, an hour away from the former Glas facility in Dingolfing. The first is a refurbished 1602 in Chamonix over blue vinyl and velour with FPS alloy wheels—what more can one need to have fun in an 02-series BMW? The black car is a previously refurbished square-light 2002 with dual twin-choke Solex carbs, and comes out of a large BMW collection.

1994 Lotus Esprit Sport 300

There were more than 10 variants of the Lotus Esprit over its 28-year production run, and the Sport 300 is one of the rarest with less than 70 built. Think of it as a sort of “club sport” spec—lighter, with stiffer suspension, stronger brakes, and a pared-down cabin with racing-style seats. The model was built as a more street-able spinoff of the Type 105/X180R homologation special that qualified the Esprit for the SCCA World Challenge series. This example is one of two finished in Norfolk Mustard over black leather, and recently received $16k in service.

32k-Mile, Giallo Modena 2005 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish S

Continuing with the British subtlety theme: this Vanquish S must have spent a gap year in Italy, because it looks quite comfortable in its one-of-one combination of Giallo Modena over beige and brown Bridge of Weir leather. The S variant was always intended to be more aggressive than the base Vanquish, and featured additional aero components, sport-tuned suspension, and a 520 horsepower 5.9-liter V12. This one has lived primarily in the Southwest and comes with a large collection of service records.

302-Powered Factory Five Racing Mk4 Roadster 5-Speed and 460-Powered Factory Five Racing Mk2 Roadster 5-Speed

Of the million or so Cobra replica builders in the world, Massachusetts-based Factory Five occupies a spot at the top of the heap in the estimation of many. The Monterey Car Week Collection includes a fiberglass replica of the small-block-powered 289 USRRC road racer from 1962 (complete with “luggage dimples” and narrow bodywork), which was piloted by the likes of Dave MacDonald, Jo Schlesser, and Ken Miles. The black car uses the Mk2 body patterned after the 427 SC Cobra, and though there is no side-oiler under the hood, its 460ci crate motor ought to provide more power than any sensible driver might want to employ.

1957 Volkswagen Beetle Deluxe

There was a time when it seemed no car would ever surpass the popularity of the VW Beetle. Its basic formula was undisturbed for decades, making the details worth paying attention to. This refurbished, Deluxe-spec example from 1957 features “snowflakes,” “icepicks,” a “batwing” steering wheel, and an oval rear window; for those unfamiliar with Bug lore, those are all very good things.

1957 Porsche 356A 1600 Coupe and 1960 Porsche 356B Super 90 Cabriolet

It’s hard to go wrong with a 356A coupe, and this example was refurbished in the last two years. Choice updates were made for drivability, including a ZF steering box, a luggage rack, adjustable shocks, 15″ Boyd Coddington wheels, a front sway bar, and LED lighting. The 356B Cab is a T5 Super 90 in Fjord Green over tan, and was the subject of cosmetic and mechanical work within the last five years.
