New Youth Tees and Sweatshirt—On Sale in the BaT Gear Store!

September officially kicks off the “-ber” months, and now all the kids are back in school. It is so named for being the seventh month of the old Roman calendar, but we’re not here to lecture about Roman history—we’re here to roll out a new collection of BaT Gear for the as-yet-unlicensed gearheads among us!

Our crack merch team has done it once again and assembled a fresh drop for the young’uns in your life—check them out below!

First up is our new Surf Tee, featuring a beach-bound Porsche 356 coupe over a Bring a Trailer logo on the front. The shirts themselves are preshrunk 100% heavyweight cotton, and since each one is individually tie-dyed, no two are the same. The Surf Tee costs $25, and Youth/Kids sizes XS-XL are available now in the Gear Store!

Our Citroen Floral graphic tee was such a hit with the adults in the room that we’re bringing the same graphic to a lilac T-shirt in Kids sizes XS-XL. The shirt is 100% cotton, ring-spun and garment-dyed, with a durable screen-printed graphic and a subtle Bring a Trailer wordmark nestled among the blooms. The t-shirt is on sale now in the Gear Store for $25.

This red, 100% cotton Racing Tee is for those born with the need for speed or for whose progeny could use a subtle hint toward a future in motorsport. It features a high-contrast yellow graphic on the front depicting a pair of Porsche 962s descending the Corkscrew, with the lead car bearing a Bring a Trailer logo on the nose. A yellow Bring a Trailer logo also rests on the left sleeve, and the shirt is available in Youth/Kids sizes XS–XL for $25.

Keep them comfortable as temperatures drop with this heather gray Bring a Trailer hoodie. This relaxed-fit, mid-weight pullover sweatshirt is a mix of 50% cotton and 50% polyester fleece, featuring a clean look (sans drawstring) and a white Bring a Trailer logo printed across the chest. An embroidered Champion logo adorns the left sleeve just above the cuff because Champion is cool now/again. It’s available in Youth/Kids sizes S-XL at $40.

Our first ever kids’ shirt that we dropped in 2023 is still available in the Gear Store for $25 in Youth sizes M-XL!

We’ve also designed a pair of keychains for those of driving age: an enamel keychain featuring a classic Bring a Trailer logo set in brass, and a round Bring a Trailer logo rendered in metal with either a black or tan leather backing.

Grab your BaT kids’ merch here in the BaT Gear Store!

    The 1-2-3 4-Cam Collection, from Garage44

9/23 Update: the second of three cars in the 1-2-3 4-Cams Collection has gone live—check it out below!
After just a couple years of racing, Ernst Fuhrmann’s legendary four-cam boxer engine was deemed ready for production use, and by 1955 it was made available in the 356A Carrera, named after the grueling and deadly Carrera Panamericana road race. This incredible collection from Garage44 presents a thorough cross-section of the Carrera program as it existed in the late 1950s and early ’60s. Each is powered by a plain-bearing version of the four-cam engine, and each represents a different facet of the Carrera ethos, which in many ways has been the guiding principle for nearly all Porsches—equally at home on track or in traffic, and able to switch between the two with ease. The 356A Carrera 1600 GS Coupe is the more refined of the trio, the 356B Carrera 1600 GT Coupe aimed principally at competition, and the 356A Carrera 1600 GT Speedster a stripped down, simplified driving machine ready for any (dry) road or circuit. Any one of them would be cause for excitement on its own, and taken together they illustrate a progression from high-speed touring to focused track use during one of the most technically ambitious periods in Porsche’s early history.

    sludgo’s Mile Markers: Mile 226 — Explained

It was a simmering-hot late Friday evening at the end of August in the summer of ’79, the year I’d graduated high school. I’d driven the Gremlin out to the new Hardee’s by the four-lane to meet Dean and Dave and Jeff and Steve and Kent and Robbie. We’d all arrived just before closing time and the counter people and cooks moaned and groaned a bit when we walked in but Steve’s second cousin was the Assistant Manager on duty and she said it was cool. I was glad. Not only was I starving but I was also looking forward to another Friday night doing nothing but goofing off with my buddies. It would be our last such night because come Saturday morning we were all leaving sludgoville and going our separate ways. Jeff was scheduled to report to the Army. Steve, the Marines. Dean was off to Arizona in his sweet ’56 Chevy to attend automotive-tech school and Robbie was taking his dad’s old F-100 west to work in the oil fields. Meanwhile, Kent—the most adventurous of us—had packed his microbus to the hilt, ready to embark on his solo trip to Alaska. And me and Dave? We were the college boys—Dave heading to NDSU in Fargo and me heading to UND in Grand Forks. And as we gathered, it was a bittersweet occasion. We all knew it was the end of the line. The end of an era. The end of the Norton Buffalo Fan Club.

What to Know About this Week’s Weird and Wonderful—June 12, 2026

Earlier this week, we hit a new record for volume with 1,248 live auctions on the site. That’s great for business, but a little too much for anyone trying to keep up with every single BaT listing of note. That’s why we have assembled The Weekly Weird and Wonderful, a curated list of the 10 most interesting, unusual, and significant cars to appear here in the last seven days, plus a handful of honorable mentions thrown in because we couldn’t help ourselves. Now, this is not comprehensive by any means, so please head over to the live auctions page to spend down the rest of your attention and focus doing something worthwhile.

Design and Empathy with Raffi Minasian — Explained

Please help us extend a warm welcome to one of BaT’s favorite designers, teachers, sellers, and all-around renaissance men: Raffi Minasian, known in these halls as @raffi. He talks with Alex about his father’s “trial by fire” mechanical training program; the roots of his obsession with car design; learning to drive in a 1952 Crosley (with doors!); human- and object-based empathy; a novel way to stay calm in the BaT comments; accidentally becoming a star seller for other people’s cars; the odd calmness that 1,200 live BaT auctions can provide; his unorthodox, Pegaso-centric introduction to Art Center College of Design, his future alma mater; his 16 years in die cast design at Franklin Mint; insights into shifts in popular culture; embracing the ridiculous; and the Beetle as a gateway drug.
