“Former owner of this car, here. This was one of the best running and funnest driving 911’s I have ever owned. The E model has smaller numbers, but probably is the best driving street machine out of all the early cars. 1972 model to boot! For a little background, this car was purchased brand new by an airline 747 captain living in Tiburon, CA. Years later I find myself working for that same airline. A few years back I was flying with a guy on a multi day trip. We were shooting the breeze while…”

“I grew up in a family of chevy owners, just chevy’s, and I had my big block in high school. Then the new girl friend asks me over to meet her family and what does the Dad have, an Opel Manta in orange. He takes me out to inspect it and at some point hands me the key and says, have fun. Well, I did and from that point forward my world changed. Tried to talk my dad into letting me buy an MGB, that didn’t work until I bought my own in college and started auto X’ing with it. Then road racing…”

“My son was racing our Datsun roadster in D Production one of the times Paul ran in the same class at Daytona. He wandered up to our crew working on our roadsturd. His crew had sent him to borrow a multimeter. He would just show up and pay the late regristration fees so everyones crew wouldn’t be packed with “crew” there just to catch a look at him as a star. I think he enjoyed just being one of us club racers. Very pleasant to talk to. He wasn’t in a hurry to get back to his crew who might have…”

I quickly installed the Mopar Performance logic module and after getting the timing dialed in and an AutoMeter boost gauge installed, I was even more ready to “Go Like Hell.” So, one Friday evening in the spring, I was laying down rubber in first and second gear at each stop.

My auto on back roads, 2nd gear could go from about 25 mph to 70 mph. Often with a group of other 02s, I would be pushing the car in front of me that was modified. Third, the auto works while you find that 5 speed that is wider than a 4 speed and what else is wider? The tunnel in an automatic. No hammer needed for installation.

“So an observation of a very obscure Honda factoid. This car has the dealer installed, recall program Takata black plastic guides still in place on the front seat belt latches. The Honda and Acura recall notice back then stated there were complaints about the front seat belts not latching properly. This was Takata’s solution. There was a rumor published at the time saying Honda’s president attributed the problem to us Americans spilling our soft drinks into the latches. Funny, he was…”

I tend to break the Gen V ACRs into three general categories. First are the more race-focused 3-speaker ACRs, with 456 produced. Second are the factory Special Editions — GTS-R, VooDoo II, Snakeskin, 1:28 and Dealer Edition — which account for 214 cars in total. Finally, there are the 290 GTC ACRs, a little over 100 of which…”
