“”Built with the 2.8L EFI V6 and 5-Speed Manual Overdrive Transmission: 1,564 (less than 7% of production)”
As a former XR4Ti owner who frequented the Merkur forums in the late ’90s and early ’00s, I can tell you that examples with the 5-speed manual were engine swap gold in salvage yards. (Though perhaps only the later/larger 3.0 V6?)
Specifically, those looking to ditch the Merkur’s 2.3T and replace it with the V6 from the Taurus SHO. This transmission and bellhousing made the swap much…”

“The swap is Fonzie-cool all by itself, but the fact that this swap is entirely hiding in absolute plain sight is incredibly brilliant. The exterior says Grandma-and-Grandpa’s old Oldsmobile and nothing but a clean and bone stock Brougham.
The gauges and the OEM CB are the chef’s kiss to complement this newfound proper-power Diesel.
Besides, anyone can do an LS-swap.”

“I don’t think Frankenstein is an issue in Aston Martin world. Many are upgraded to Vantage spec, many DB4/5/6 are built to 4.7 Vantage spec. Like Panteras and aircooled Porsches, there’s no shame in that. I think it’s only in the US musclecar world that originality is a MUST. I think that’s because there were so many made and so many customised in the day, that originality is their only rare virtue. But with a car that only 3,500 were made in a 22 year production run, sympathetic modifications…”

I watched the videos to see any sign of power steering so only Armstrong steering? My family was in the trucking business (in many aspects) and worked at a Kenworth store in NJ in the clean up bay. Much like old vs modern pickup trucks, they had evolved from bare bones working vehicles to modern, comfortable places to be. GLWTA #keepontruckin”

The thought of not being able to mountain bike, camp, or play my guitar for a whole summer led me to pack him up and hit the road. I drove straight through to a friend’s house in St Paul. The next day I headed northwest to North Dakota so I could camp for a couple of days at Theodore Roosevelt National Park…”

My buddy’s dad had a 1987 black 911 turbo and my friends brother had a 1987 928 S4, the third one is me in my dad’s Porsche at 17 years old dreaming off the future. That picture is 34 years old and 51 year old me has it in my garage still:) This car has brought me happiness for decades and hopefully the next care taker of it will experience the same joy it has brought me and my family.”

I would not expect the new owner to be “dumping money” into this car as all of the heavy lifting has been done by the current owner.

He saw something in me (I was 14) and let me work on a very special Elva. It was driven by Mark Donohue he went on the win the SCCA championship in that car. I made a special head gasket and a fuel fitting in metal shop. I got to know Mark a bit. Many years later I was re-united with the car at a Donohue reunion at Watkins Glen. What…”

“The 430 HP was NOT underated as often quoted ….This was virtually a race track engine with a wild solid lifter camshaft and open chamber heads with 12:1 compression ratio….all geared for high end horsepower …
Yes, the engine produced 430 HP at 5200 RPM’s but Chevy failed to mention it produced
    Over 550 HP at 6200 RPM’s
The “low” HP published at a time when insurance companies were taking a close look at high performance cars”

“Oil control system- As 928 engines evolved from 16V to 32V,and from 4.5 to 5.4 liters, two issues cropped up. First, the oil drainback channels through the block did not change in size, and second, between the high output of the oil pump and the sheer volume of the 32V heads, sustained high rpm could lead to the heads accumulating excess oil-up to 2.5 quarts per side, more than half the total engine oil fill. This A) limited the amount of oil near the pickup, and B) interfered with…”
