“Love the exhaust note in the driving video. If you know e9 coupes you know that this one has all of the most desirable modifications performed by one the most respected e9 shops on the west coast. Bid with confidence, you’d be hard pressed to find a better driver’s 3.0cs than this one.”
“I had a brand new wagon, similar to this one, as a work vehicle for a few months once. I expected it to be a dog, but to my surprise it actually turned out to be a very nice highway cruiser.”

“Great looking e28 that has been dialed in the way all e28s should be dialed in, starting with euro bumpers and properly lowered suspension. 👏
You’d be hard pressed to find better wheels for an e28 than the 16″ BBS RX wheels.
The crack free dash is also a bonus, as is the top end motor refresh just a few thousand miles ago.
The Recaros alone are worth between two and five thousand dollars in case someone wanted to replace them with e28 sport seats.
Refurbished A/C and the new heater core…”

“We had ’74 Manta, one of our most dependable and enjoyable cars. Terrific handling and clean styling. Kept it for 9 years and 80K miles. The drive trains in these cars were solid.”

“Merci beaucoup. The car will indeed be driven across Paris, France’s fantastic b-roads and through mountain passes in Europe, both as a cool family car and also for vintage car rallies & events that I love to go to or organise.”

“When I first saw this auction I wanted to Jump! I expected there to be an Eruption of bids due to provenance. Driving at 10/10th would be like Runin’ With the Devil for sure. This car is the stuff Dreams are made of. If I won, I would definitely Dance The Night Away. OK I am done…”

“I grew up in a family of chevy owners, just chevy’s, and I had my big block in high school. Then the new girl friend asks me over to meet her family and what does the Dad have, an Opel Manta in orange. He takes me out to inspect it and at some point hands me the key and says, have fun. Well, I did and from that point forward my world changed. Tried to talk my dad into letting me buy an MGB, that didn’t work until I bought my own in college and started auto X’ing with it. Then road racing…”

“I purchased this great car in 1986 while I headed a family company in Calgary, Alberta. I flew to Victoria BC and was met by renowned Gullwing restorer Rudi Koniczek. He was selling the Ferrari which had been “Chunky” Woodward’s, part of a famed department store and ranching family in BC. I had only owned 356s and early 911s, so was nervous about my first V12 Ferrari. We took a lap of Victoria which will be forever etched in my memory. Spectacular car. I drove it to Calgary, right over the…”

That being said, you’d be a lot cooler riding this than you are right now!”

“Well folks, that is a wrap and the end of a 15 year search. I knew about this car from way back when my mechanic serviced my other Lotus cars. I never in a million years thought it would come up on BaT, this should be quite an adventure!!!”

“The first thing I looked at was the first driving video, and that made my morning, seeing the focus with the manual steering. No lackadaisical grip on that wheel.
Just the right street car for getting the blood pumping, without needing to get crazy to do it. A simple and easily maintainable build, with no exotic or exceptionally expensive components, and easy access to pretty much everything. It seems like a car that can happily sit on a battery tender, with some fuel stabilizer, and be…”

“The Gumball Rally Cobra S/N 3243 had been stored for years until around 2013. Sitting next to it was a 289 Comp.Car. Both came back into the sunlight.

I have photos of CSX3243 in January of 2014 at the shop of an incredible Pebble Beach restoration mechanic and a dear friend.
Chuck Bail really did it right using Daytona Spyder’s, A/C Cobra’s and recording sounds with Parabolic mikes. There will never be another. Sold my Spyder and…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“A 1952 220A Cabriolet was my daily driver in the early 1970s. When decades later I drove past a billboard depicting a painted one on Sunset Blvd, I did a u-turn to see what it was about. It advertised the Hiro Yamagata exhibit at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery running from Sept 13 thru Oct 23, 1994. I was at the opening, chatted with Mr Yamagata, and marveled that I was seeing more 220As in one room than I had seen in my entire life.
I asked him why he chose this car to paint. He replied…”

“This is the car that convinced me just why fulvias were rally champions. Having known the owner for a while you can rest assured that this particular example was treated with both love and care.
Having had a chance to drive it down a curvy road or two, it’s mechanically perfect and just a hoot to drive as well.
The gorgeous color doesn’t hurt either.”
