A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“These are great cars! I call it my cheaper AMG – 425 hp/385 torque but so much more reliable than AMG and no suspension issues like ABC. “Fwiw, the red key was introduced with the 999. It was for security purposes and allowed you to pair new black keys to the dash/ECU, as the model was the first to come with a factory immobiliser.
The 996 on the other hand, was still from the simple, analog, old school era. No red key. No digital dash. The only code that came with the bike originally was the mechanical code to get new keys cut, but how often do you lose all the keys to the bike to even need it?
