My buddy’s dad had a 1987 black 911 turbo and my friends brother had a 1987 928 S4, the third one is me in my dad’s Porsche at 17 years old dreaming off the future. That picture is 34 years old and 51 year old me has it in my garage still:) This car has brought me happiness for decades and hopefully the next care taker of it will experience the same joy it has brought me and my family.”

“One of the things I really like about this is that, at its heart, it’s just so simple. Not like the Italian limited production barchetta cars where everything is unobtainable or very expensive. A T Series MG set up is the personification of of basic spark, fuel, air motoring. Like the upkeep on TD. That should bring it more into the range of folks who lust after the style but have been afraid of the reality of finding mechanical spares. Opportunity rarely knocks as loud as this one, IMHO!”

As a former XR4Ti owner who frequented the Merkur forums in the late ’90s and early ’00s, I can tell you that examples with the 5-speed manual were engine swap gold in salvage yards. (Though perhaps only the later/larger 3.0 V6?)

“The swap is Fonzie-cool all by itself, but the fact that this swap is entirely hiding in absolute plain sight is incredibly brilliant. The exterior says Grandma-and-Grandpa’s old Oldsmobile and nothing but a clean and bone stock Brougham.
The gauges and the OEM CB are the chef’s kiss to complement this newfound proper-power Diesel.
