“Thanks P 38. I went to college driving a new R1 with air-conditioning. And automatic. I dated.my wife in a red Avanti. Married in 1965 and sold the Avanti get a car with a bench seat for our daughter’ s car seat. I have known where my original car is but have tried unsuccessfully for 30 years to buy it. When this car came along, I said what the heck. I’m excited to have a supercharged car and relieve some old memories. That is a lot of what the old car hobby is about.”

“GM Design department was on fire in the mid sixties. Everything from the Buick Riviera, and the second gen Corvair, to the Corvette Stingray and these 66+67 Chevelles. They look as good today, as when they were new in the showroom.”

@Stockpat97 Assuming you’re asking about cam belt replacement, the belt & tensioner are easily accessed with the radiator removed.
@Alfaman Right, not easy maneuvering the V6 into place but I’ve done it solo 3 times during the build. Once its in access around the engine is really not bad at all.”

“Dean Batchelor and Phil Hill agreed that if one has only one Ferrari, make it a 330 GTC. It does everything so well. As said, not only does it NOT need power steering, leave off all options including AC and Borrani wire wheels on these cars. The AC in this era had an ugly compressor, was very heavy and not very effective. Borrani’s are certainly beautiful but along with the attaching hardware are much heavier than the race proven Campagnolo disc wheels with their P car style provenance.…”

“I owned an ‘85 nearly identical to this. I drove it the way Carroll Shelby intended. I quickly installed the Mopar Performance logic module and after getting the timing dialed in and an AutoMeter boost gauge installed, I was even more ready to “Go Like Hell.” So, one Friday evening in the spring, I was laying down rubber in first and second gear at each stop.

“Automatics are great – First, generally driven less spiritedly over their lifetime. Second, the automatic is actually very good. My auto on back roads, 2nd gear could go from about 25 mph to 70 mph. Often with a group of other 02s, I would be pushing the car in front of me that was modified. Third, the auto works while you find that 5 speed that is wider than a 4 speed and what else is wider? The tunnel in an automatic. No hammer needed for installation.

“The Ford Gt‘s have stood the test of time. They are one of the finest supercar ever built a no nonsense analog supercar. We may never see this again at least in my lifetime. The automobile manufacturers currently lack the mechanisms to ever build a car like this again supercharged V8 stick shift an aluminum frame etc. All the low mileage cars and after that all the Ford Gt‘s will approach $1 million.
