“My dad also has a Judson in his ’56 lowlight and got me hooked on 36hps. I currently have an Okrasa and just pulled a ’58 T2 36hp out of my Brasilia science project. I see at one point in picture 507 this Ghia had an Okrasa setup. I would have loved to talk to the owner/builder and hear their feedback on the differences. Does the motor still have the Okrasa 69.5 crank or upgraded (356/custom) camshaft with the Judson setup? Does it by chance have a the uber rare “high compression” domed VW…”

“When I was President of the Pit Crew at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles I had the privilege of arranging a Tour of Bruce Meyer’s garage off Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Among his fabulous cars (e.g. the first production Cobra) is the SWB Berlinetta that won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1961, the highest placing of a SWB at Le Mans.”

“A few years ago I took one down the Oregon coast, right after some seat time in a GT3. Same engine DNA, same urgency to rev, but the experience couldn’t be more different in the best way. “Mezger engine block was literally built to be wailed on at redline for 24 hrs straight, it’s nearly impossible to destroy it, you have to be intentionally holding it past redline for probably 1 hr+.
Reminds me of the old cash for clunkers video where they emptied the oil pan on an 80 series landcruiser, put it in neutral, and floored it. It took like 20+ mins at past redline for the engine to give out with no lubrication.”

“I have and would drive any 200 cross country. Bring a couple spanners 10mm 13 mm pop into advance grab some coolant and oil, bring an extra thermostat and you should be good to go.
If coming west stay off 80 at night when rainy lol. 200’s are the best when on point.”

“This was my Dad’s car. I learned to drive a stick in this car and took my drivers test for my license. He and I worked on it together and we would race through the mountains. “I had a new Pinto and within a year I found a deal on a proto turbocharger set-up from a well-known Detroit area tuner. It was comparatively crude to this one without an intercooler and lots of lag. But once it spooled up, it was pretty impressive. “When I was about 12 years old, my Mom’s cousin had one of these. He would load me, my brother, and two other younger cousins in the back with the jumper seats in the closed position. As he fishtailed down the road, the four of us would slide around on that metal flooring – back and forth, back and forth smashing into each other and the sides. Laughing all the way!!!!!!!!
