“I was a dispatcher at Greyhound in the 80s just after the last Buffalos were retired. One thing you used to see in ads for used buses was “Never a Greyhound,” meant to say it was never thrashed in daily Dog service and probably wouldn’t have chicken bones shoved into all the heater outlets. Looks like a nice bus.

“Fun memory. I purchased a very clean, low milage `64 Galaxie 500XL
R-Code 427 4 speed when I returned from Vietnam in `67.
Paid $1700, 59 years ago, when these were just very nice “Used Cars”.
Now, these survivors are the best of the full size “Muscle Cars” extant.”

“I own a 1938 Flying Squirrel. The engine number is one digit away from this bike and the frame number is two digits away. When I contacted the Scott Club Registry to authenticate my bike I was advised that 220 Flying Squirrels were produced (500cc and 600cc versions combined) in 1938. The whereabouts of 101 were known. Of those, twenty had the redesigned detachable head as does this bike. GLWTS”

“20 or so years ago my wife and I were staying at the Cypress Inn in Carmel. One morning I got up very early, so early that the hotel staff had not begun morning preparations.
I stumbled down into the lobby and saw an elderly lady walking the other way. I asked her if she knew where I could get a cup of coffee.
She smiled a 10,000 watt smile and said there was a place around the corner, or if I wanted to wait she’d make me some.
She wasn’t in a uniform and had no name tag so not quite…”

“Not an uncommon swap in the late 1980s. I recall reading a Pontiac Magazine from that era where someone restored a ’69 Firebird that had the Chevy motor in it. There were far more parts available for small block Chevys either through catalogs like J.C. Whitney, or in junkyards, which were chock full of them. And, hey, if it ain’t broke…why fix it? If it gets to the point where the 350 needs to be pulled, then you can start thinking about putting a proper Pontiac motor back in. But,…”

“In 1967, my dad informed me that he had purchased, with my savings, 1960 Falcon with 60K miles for $325.00.
While it would not have been my choice, I was excited to enter the world of independence from walking, bicycling and public transportation.
The 144 ci engine didn’t last long with my heavy foot and the constant diet of re-refined oil I fed it from our local Site gas station.
I found a 260 at the junk yard and that was a great improvement.
The original radiator did not like the 260, so…”

“I was a salesman at the Dodge dealership one block from Ferris motors 1968-1974. Our dealership was NOT a high-performance dealership like Ferris. In addition to selling the subject car here. Ferris also owned and raced the A990 sister car to Larry Griffith’s car but the Ferris car was an automatic called the torqueflite tornado. “Drag racing in the south in the 60’s I watched the advent of the lightweights. Lakeland Drag strip in Memphis had among others Herb McCandless aka Mr 4 Speed. I swear he could shift faster than an automatic! ! Car just shuttered when he slammed into gear. As I remember also circa 63 NHRA outlawed aluminum front caps? At the nationals people would tech and then go switch the entire front cap. NHRA got hip and would wait in staging area. With magnet in hand! Truth or consequence time!!”
