“Awesome to see another very early production boss! Curious as to when it initially was sold. I own 2013 Boss 302 #0003 in grabber blue. I purchased it in March 2012 from Al Packer Whit Marsh Ford in MD. They had no idea what the production number was and of course I never mentioned it until after I purchased it, then I received a call a few weeks later asking if I’d sell it back or trade it back for another boss plus cash. I declined. I do have more miles on mine, around 9k. Drove it from NJ to…”

One of my best friends ordered a ‘63 Galaxie 500 XL Oxford Blue convertible with the 406/405 Tri-Power engine …By the time it arrived it had the new upgraded 427/425 Dual Quad engine..I can vividly remember the first time opening the hood and seeing those chrome valve covers marked 427-T ….I believe the “T” was for transistor ignition.
The ‘63 Galaxie has always been my favorite Ford, especially the
    “R” code Fastback version.”

“I truly appreciate all of the thoughtful comments along the way. The collective expertise of the community is both helpful and part of the fun! I realize that from a collector’s point of view, this may not be ideal. However, I buy them to drive, and it would feel bad buying a perfect spec collector’s car and driving it as hard as I plan to do. The alternative would have been to find a donor car, and either build it myself or take it to a resto mod shop. This one is already done and ready…”

Just being inside it is a special occasion. It became my daily driver for a while and I always caught myself finding excuses to go places so I could drive it.
On a funny note, every time I’m on a 4-way stop people wait for me to go first. I think they just want to stare at the Arnage. People love it.

“Wonderful handling wagons. If well maintained the drivetrain will last well past 200k miles. Most common issues are door panel fabric detachment, interior plastic scratching, exterior door window rubber degradation, and infotainment electronic glitches. Anyone who says they should have offered this with the six has never driven one. For its intended market the 2.4 is more than adequate to move the wagon at a comfortably fast pace and the five speed auto is well matched to the engine. For those…”

Also, did you know that the ’84, with it’s hold over “SC interior” is the lightest of the ’84 to ’89 Carreras? That makes this the lightest, with it’s slicktop, and most powerful Carrera in the ’84 to ’89 range.”

On one of my runs heading north on 101 from Burlingame to San Francisco, I was listening to the giants pregame, literally MINUTES before the first pitch. Traffic was fairly heavy approaching candlestick park when I noticed in my rear view mirror a bright pink Chrysler Imperial absolutely SCREAMING through traffic, changing lanes like an Indy car driver. As it flew past me and headed towards the…”

“Ah, the memories! This was my first-ever brand new car, purchased in Petersburg, Virginia when this fresh Army Quartermaster second lieutenant received a small fortune (It seemed so at the time) from the Army in TDY pay and turned it into Kenosha metal. Mine had the 343 not the 390, but was exactly this color, same transmission, and the brown leather which was original to this car, too. The car accompanied me to my first–and only–duty station in West Germany because officers’ car-shipping was…”

I bought this car to hot rod as well, but it was so mint that I couldn’t do it, it is truly flawless inside and out. However, my OCD got the best of me and I invested whatever was needed to make the car perfect and decided to let it go as an offering to the BAT community. @hoarsche enjoy!”

Gary Hall, whose wife used one as a daily driver (!)… told me to correct the odd handling , you need to change to larger shocks, change spring rates, change to stiffer suspension bushings, change tire pressures with radial tires. I did on my earlier car #804 and it worked wonders! My current cat #1096 has updated revisions including QA-1 shocks, springs and factory updated engine and transmission mounts. It drives flawlessly. I drive mine year round (as long as there ‘s no snow or salt on the roads) and 95% with the top down (only in inclement weather) no matter how cold! I’ve gone all over New England, down to PA and back, upstate NY, and always get home. This car would have a circle of admirers at every Cars and Coffee you drove it to… elegant and much less common than the A Body cars of the era. Truly the “executives’ hot rod” especially with a four-speed.
