BaT Auction Success Story: Jockr’s 911T Has the Fizz!
BaT member Jockr brings us our latest Success Story about his RS-Style 1971 Porsche 911T coupe that he won from HTClassicCars in a January 2026 BaT auction:
I searched various sites (mostly BaT) for vintage 911s for years. Unfortunately, about 12 years ago, I turned down a mint, 32k-mile 3.2 G50 (finished in black over red), because I thought $36k was too much money at the time. As they say, you live and learn (I also didn’t buy Apple stock in the 1990s).

At first, I was hesitant about buying a car sight unseen on BaT, but then this one came up locally. I went out to see it, but could not drive it because of the snow. Nevertheless, I fell in love—the timing was right. Often, you see a car, but the fluctuations in your finances don’t line up; however, this was the right time. I felt good about the car, and more importantly, about the seller. I set my top number and decided to place a bid. I needed to be disciplined….and I quickly bid past my number. But, I won the car!

Unfortunately, the weather on the East Coast was terrible. It took me a couple of weeks to pick up the car because of the snow and salt conditions on the roads. Eventually, I had a friend with a trailer help me pick it up. I kept the car at his facility until the roads were better. I thought that would be a week or so. Well, I won the car in January 2026, and it stayed there for quite a while.

Then the salt was washed away from the roads, and I drove it for the first time. It was weird. I was nervous because I thought I might not like it, and I will say it was not perfect. There were little things like the strange positioning of the mirror on the driver’s door and some loose brackets in the engine bay, but it was sublime. Light, agile, tight, and what a noise it made. I have had a handful of older cars, and I know what to expect with a nearly 60-year-old car. Not perfection, but the emotion was all there. My new longhood has the fizz!
