The countdown to the holidays is officially on, and we offer you this week’s piece as a bit of a respite from the seasonal crunch. As we round into the final stretch of 2025, we remain thankful for the enthusiasm, passion, knowledge, and humor that all of you out there in the BaT community bring to this site every day. You didn’t think we were going to take a day off, did you? No! In fact, we’re rolling in with this week’s Weird and Wonderful list one day early, lest you experience BaT withdrawal over the Thanksgiving weekend. Even in this holiday-truncated week, there were plenty of interesting vehicles to choose from; the list below only scratches the surface. Well, we can’t really offer discounts on our sellers’ vehicles for Black Friday (though there are certainly some bargains to be had). Instead, we’re rolling out big savings on all almost all BaT merchandise in the Gear Store. Starting Thursday, November 27, die-cast models are 50% off, and all other items are 35% off (excluding only charity sale items and the Hot Rod jacket).

The fact that the Reliant Scimitar earned time in a recent BaT pod episode brought a smile to my face as I listened. My uncle, a solicitor/country gentleman/gearhead in the UK, had an interest in all kinds of sports and touring cars, and ignited my passion at an early age.
We revisit our May 2023 interview with Kobus, BaT commenter and contributor extraordinaire. Topics include his formative years at Kyalami, racing his vintage Porsches and historic Formula V car, dangerous beauty of Schenley Park, the Goodwood Revival, Luftgekühlt, and Kobus’ work for the 356 Registry.
Go to any cars & coffee, and you’ll hear owners bragging about “time capsules” and low miles. It’s far less common (and often a lot more interesting) to see cars that have been used, driven, and enjoyed. In fact, we sometimes call out an automobile’s high mileage in the title of the auction as a badge of honor. In conversation with our friends at Pennzoil, we began musing about rewarding the current owners of the machines on BaT that have taken the “long may we drive” ethos very literally. We’ll be sending each of them a rebate good for up to 6 quarts of any Pennzoil motor oil, redeemable at one of their local auto parts stores.
For a good many of us, the sky is dark by the time work is over on Friday, and all we want to do is retreat to the safety of the caves to warm our faces with the glow of the LCD screen while we ponder the finer points of automotive arcana. It is for this purpose that we present this week’s selection of Weird and Wonderful vehicles, plucked from among the ~1,000 live auctions continually running on our pages.
