This was my very first successful win on BaT. Although I was close in a few previous auctions, I was never the prevailing winner. Perhaps it was also a serendipitous coincidence that it was the seller’s very first auction.
This Success Story comes to us from BaT member rublem, who won a 1971 Porsche 911S Targa from ECI in a November 2025 BaT auction:
When I got the follow-up email from BaT, they weren’t the only ones to ask, “How’s ownership going?” Most people I discussed my 911S Targa with have asked me this same question, and they have been surprised to realize that I bought the car in an internet auction, sight unseen. I’ve owned a very nice ’64 Porsche 356SC coupe for a couple of years now, and with that purchase, I laid eyes on it first.
Following an unfortunate fire with his previous Ferrari, allthecars is back in another 308 GTB courtesy of BaT. He won his new example from Murphy258 in a September 2025 BaT auction, and wrote in to tell us about it:
It was November 2024. I was driving on Mulholland Highway through Malibu on a lovely, sunny Sunday morning when my black 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB caught fire. After six years of ownership, numerous drives to Monterey for Car Week, and roughly 40,000 miles, my first Ferrari was reduced to charcoal.
This latest Success Story comes to us from BaT member jerhofer, who won this G50 Carrera coupe from SinghMotors in a November 2025 BaT auction:
In November 2025, I won this 51k-mile, all-original 1988 911 Carrera coupe, powered by a 3.2L flat-six backed with the G50 transmission. It was located in Lakeville, Connecticut, a five-minute drive from Lime Rock. The seller was Bobby Singh, whose Porsche business was located in the very same building that Skip Barber had used for his racing school cars.
BaT member leokahn became the latest custodian of this 1981 Porsche 911SC roller project when he won it from brentcline in a June 2019 BaT auction. After five years of work it’s back on the road, and he wrote in to tell us about it:
Mr. Cline was easy to work with. As soon as the auction finished, I went to the bank, requested a cashier’s check, and flew to Augusta, Georgia. I rented a car and drove to Aiken, South Carolina, where I met Mr. Cline and delivered him the check. That same day, we loaded the Porsche into an auto transport, which delivered it the next day at my shop in Miami.
06/03/2026 Update: BaT user B.Fryk wrote to us in May 2023 about the 2015 911 Targa 4S that he won from BenKeith in a March 2023 BaT auction, and today he’s back to give us a post-road-trip update after scuttling his original plan to “fly and drive.”

In March 2023, I placed the winning bid on one of my dream cars: a low-mileage 2015 911 Targa 4S. It departed from NorCal for its new life in the Motor City. Since it was early March, the summer tires didn’t allow for a cross-country drive home, so onto the hauler she went. I recently made up for this by completing my “epic trip west,” a 6,200-mile road trip to the West Coast and back. I appreciate that each owner is free to drive their Porsche as little or as much as desired. I personally leaned into driving the car a lot, as Dr. Porsche intended. Looking toward my October 2025 calendar, my high school reunion in Pasadena was coming up one weekend, followed by a family wedding in Livingston, Montana, the next. With family in the Bay Area, it was the perfect opportunity for a road trip. A break in my schedule allowed me a two-and-a-half-week trip West!
BaT member maldav won this BaT Alumni 1985 Renault R5 Turbo 2 Type 8221 from Belmont in a July 2022 auction, and he recently wrote in with an update on it:
I first saw the Renault R5 Turbo on the cover of CAR magazine’s July 1980 issue at a bookstore that specialized in foreign magazines. Despite being an enthusiast, I had never seen anything like it. I pored over the article and aspired to own one.
This Success Story comes to us from Dvredc5, who won this modified 2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 from Flexfitness16 in a November 2025 BaT auction:
I’ve been a BaT member for a couple of years now and have enjoyed every moment of it. I had been seeking an ’80s IROC-Z similar to one I bought new in 1986 and sold in 1990 to help fund my new business. There were very few examples out there, and I never found the right car.
BaT member Chuckles83 passed an important automotive tradition to his youngest daughter with this 1978 Triumph Spitfire, which he won from StevenAJ in a March 2025 BaT auction:
As a former Michigan State Spartan, it was hard watching my youngest set her heart on Ann Arbor for college. And when it became clear that off-campus housing necessitated a motor vehicle, I knew what I had to do.
BaT member Buster82 won a 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible for his wife from KSC813 in a November 2025 BaT auction, and he recently wrote in with an update:
My wife had owned a Super Beetle many years ago. I decided to take her back in time with this recent purchase. As the bid amount grew, I had to show her the auction to make sure that she would be happy if I was ultimately the highest bidder.
