Geely Galaxy TT pre-sales starts at about $21,500 with up to 640 km of range — Explained

The Galaxy brand under Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175) began pre-sales of the Galaxy TT sedan on Thursday, with prices ranging from 145,900 yuan ($21,490) to 169,900 yuan.

A total of 3 variants are on offer in pre-sales, including the 540 RWD Premium Edition, the 540 RWD Deluxe Edition, and the 640 RWD Flagship Edition.

Previously on July 21, the TT Ultra, the model’s top-end all-wheel-drive version, entered pre-sales at 209,800 yuan, with the initial batch limited to 999 units.

The Galaxy TT is a mid- to large-size all-electric sedan focused on sporty handling. It measures 4,999 millimeters long, 1,919 millimeters wide and 1,479 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920 millimeters.

The car has a fastback coupe-like silhouette and an active electric rear wing with 3 adjustable positions, providing 508 newtons of downforce at a maximum angle of 22.5 degrees.

The rear-wheel-drive versions use a single motor with a peak output of 245 kilowatts (333 hp) and peak torque of 320 Nm.

The batteries are supplied by CATL (HKEX: 3750), with capacities of 52.4 kWh and 63.8 kWh, both lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs.

The 2 versions offer CLTC range of 540 kilometers and 640 kilometers, and go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and 6.5 seconds, respectively.

All versions come standard with an 800-volt platform and a 6C charging rate, and Geely Galaxy says 11 minutes of charging adds more than 400 kilometers of range. The battery is the first to feature NP3.0 thermal runaway protection technology.

The chassis features an all-aluminum double-wishbone front suspension and a reinforced five-link rear suspension, with an FSD variable damping adaptive suspension available.

For assisted driving, the car comes with 1 LiDAR unit and a J6M chip from Horizon Robotics (HKEX: 9660), and buyers can choose between the Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) H7 or H5 systems.

The cabin runs on the second-generation Flyme Auto system, with a 10.2-inch instrument screen, a 15.4-inch central control screen and a 25.6-inch AR-HUD.

The interior also offers a 23-speaker audio system, a 1.97-square-meter panoramic glass roof, a 110-liter frunk and a 475-liter rear trunk.

The Galaxy TT will go head-to-head with the Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) SU7 and the Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) P7+, competing for young buyers in the 200,000-yuan all-electric sedan segment.

The pre-sales comes as the Galaxy brand returns to growth. The brand sold 107,797 vehicles in July, up 13.42% year-on-year.

Parent company Geely Auto sold 250,161 vehicles in July, up 5.23% year-on-year and its best July ever.
