Here’s bYD launches updated Yuan Up in China from $11,070 with longer-range options
- The 2027 Yuan Up increases maximum range from 401 km to 501 km and lowers the starting price for 401-km variants.
- The Yuan series sold a record 84,550 units in August alone, making it BYD’s best-selling model.
BYD (HKEX: 1211) has launched an updated Yuan Up battery electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China, adding longer-range options and lowering entry prices for some range configurations.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced on Thursday that the 2027 Yuan Up Feichi Edition is available in 5 variants, with list prices ranging from 74,800 yuan ($11,070) to 104,800 yuan.
All variants come with a limited-time trade-in subsidy of 5,000 yuan, bringing prices to between 69,800 yuan and 99,800 yuan for eligible buyers.
The update retains the 301-km and 401-km CLTC range options and adds 501-km variants, increasing the previous maximum range by 100 km, or about 25%.
The 5 variants carry list prices of 74,800 yuan, 81,800 yuan, 89,800 yuan, 94,800 yuan and 104,800 yuan, respectively. The lineup comprises 1 variant with a 301-km range, 2 with a 401-km range and 2 with a 501-km range.
The entry-level list price is unchanged, while the starting price for a 401-km variant falls by 18,000 yuan to 81,800 yuan from 99,800 yuan.
The pricing changes also come with a reshuffling of equipment. The new 401-km Linghang variant does not feature the God’s Eye C driver-assistance system, while the 401-km Huoli variant, priced at 89,800 yuan, includes it.
The 401-km Huoli variant supports highway and urban expressway navigation assistance (HNOA), adaptive cruise control (ACC), automated valet parking (AVP) and remote parking assistance (RPA).
The 301-km Linghang and 501-km Chaoyue variants do not feature God’s Eye C, meaning longer range and more advanced driver assistance are not offered together on every variant.
The new 501-km variants use a 51.13-kWh battery pack, while the 301-km and 401-km versions have battery capacities of 32 kWh and 45.12 kWh, respectively.
All updated variants use a motor with a maximum output of 70 kW (94 hp) and peak torque of 180 Nm. Some higher-end variants of the older Yuan Up Smart Driving Edition use a 130-kW motor.
The update also adds 2 exterior colors, yellow and blue, along with a new 2-spoke leather steering wheel. Higher-end variants gain 17-inch wheels.
Dimensions remain unchanged at 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm.
The previous Yuan Up Smart Driving Edition remains listed on BYD’s website. The 5 newly launched variants belong to the 2027 Feichi Edition lineup.
The Yuan Up originally launched in China in March 2024 and is sold as the BYD Atto 2 in several overseas markets.
The compact SUV is a key model in BYD’s popular Yuan family, which also includes the Yuan Plus, sold as the Atto 3 in several overseas markets.
The Yuan family sold a record 84,550 vehicles in August, up 128.23% year-on-year, making it BYD’s best-selling model family that month, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
