    “@ctalisman
Thank you bud. You have no idea what this car means to me. Money aside I always wanted one when I was a kid and a friend of mine had one once and would always wear blue socks because of the car. Just wonderful memories with this platform in my head.”

“I owned a J-car with V6, they were better and more reliable than they get credit for. Chevrolet did a great job styling the Z24, love the cowl-induction hood. Those tint headlight covers are pure 80s nostalgia, I sold hundreds of them back in the day.”

“A great car with a great story! I’m often surprised how wing cars are optioned. For example, the C-21 Center front-seat cushion and folding armrest with column automatic, seen here. Deluxe wheel covers? I guess I assume it’s a class of car that would naturally be more loaded up.
Of course their existence as the manufacturers were pushing the limits of NASCAR homologation rules ensures they are inherently fascinating. Producing them had nothing to do with marketing them for profit.…”

Someone will be getting a beautiful example and it being the first year of production is even a nicer feature. GLWTA👌👌👌”

“@64_S1 Not only can you drive this back home to the Midwest, you SHOULD! As one who has driven my S2 Elan coast to coast and border to border, I highly recommend it, with a couple of caveats. First, as you noted, install the side windows. Even with the top down it will keep the wind from beating you up. Then, when you put the top up, only if needed for major rain of course, you will stay relatively dry.
Second, do not use interstate highways unless there is no reasonable alternative. As the…”

“It’s been years, but I saw a similar one in Madison, WI. The owner and buddy drove up from the Chicago area – a 2 hour interstate highway drive. They had leather goggles and huge smiles behind the little windscreens. The Ferrari was specked with bugs and road dirt and looked utterly amazing. What a day for those guys. A pleasure for the show attendees as well. Someone is going to have fun with this 212 beauty. Let ‘er rip!

For those seeking a manual, 8k redline 4 liter naturally aspirated roaster that is the right size, and rare, look no further. As a fellow 718 Spyder owner, I feel these cars were a love letter to all things we love about Porsches.. GLWA!”

“Jan 1970: We shuttled 20 new imported cars from the dealership in Farmington CT to display at the car show in the Hartford Armory, and all the keys just got tossed in a basket.
During the show, I pocketed two sets… a silver Mangusta and a white Miura.
Sunday night we ferried the cars back, and I had dibs on the coolest ones! I drove both “the long way”, up and over Avon mountain on backroads I knew well… leaving lifelong impressions on 20-year-old me. Each was unique, challenging, and…”

“As a longtime rally/driving tour enthusiast, I salivate thinking how perfect this 911 would be for some of the adventures I go on. A typical rally year for me is over 35k miles and the key is something that is a reliable workhorse, comfy on long transit miles (ie interstate travel), fun on the backroads (an absolute must), and starts every time with no hesitation.
This G50 Carrera would be PERFECT for that. Is it the ideal aesthetics that you would want? Impossible as each person has…”

“The Dark Toreador Red color on these always looked good. With the matching grill and the dual exhaust set itself apart from it’s Grand Marquis and Crown Vic parents. Matched with a few good options like the trunk organizer and heated seats this is a great example of a car that all of us would buy 10 times over given the chance to go back 20 years and walk into a new car dealership! “My favorite auction of the year.
My very first car was precisely this, but in tan and minus the Cragars. Served me well throughout college and for a cross-country drive to Southern California after college. Raced a Mazda RX-7 across approximately 100 miles of the desert Southwest, with my 10-speed bike strapped to the roof rack. I pulled away from him on the flat stretches and he caught and passed me in the mountain curves. Eventually my 440 needed gas and he didn’t. Good times.
