Alex pays a Car Week visit to our friends at Mohr Imports to talk about the early days of their partnership, their annual Car Week collection, treating every car the same, a local celebrity, alumni listings, our offers tool, the photographic variety of the Monterey Peninsula, the BaT comments section, and the folks who help them out day to day.
We noted that Mile Marker 200 would come with a special surprise, and here it is! This week marks the 200th installment of sludgo’s Mile Markers, and to celebrate we’re issuing a limited run of 200 commemorative posters, each signed and numbered by sludgo himself. Posters are now available in the BaT gear store, and all proceeds from the sales will be donated to the American Diabetes Association in honor of sludgo’s father, the Oldsmobile Man.
I love the old Andy Griffith Show. Have since I was a little kid and would catch reruns of it after school on my Grandma Lettie’s black-and-white Philco. I’ve nothing but fond memories of Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney and ‘Aint’ Bea. Opie and Helen and Thelma Lou. Floyd the barber. Otis the drunk. Gomer the grease-monkey and his cousin Goober. Emmett the fix-it shop owner and even Howard Sprague the Howard Sprague. One of my favorite episodes is where Barney buys a used car from a sweet little old lady who turns out to have swindled him in the deal by passing him a lemon. There’s the famous scene where Andy and Barney are commiserating in the courthouse after he’d had the car towed to Gomer’s service station to have Gomer’s always unseen boss ‘Wally’ take a look at it and Gomer returns with the results—a mile-long laundry-list of repairs he reads off as Barney sinks miserably and hilariously down into his chair. That’s exactly the way I felt about a month ago when my new mechanic Tyrone called to talk to me about the ‘B.
It seems like yesterday that we were celebrating sludgo’s 100th Mile Marker, but in fact it was four years ago. Since then, he’s continued to grace our pages with his special brand of wit, wisdom, and humanity. Today, we’ll be publishing Mile Marker 200, and that’s cause for celebration. It’s been an amazing journey that shows no signs of slowing down, and in fact his role on BaT has recently expanded with the new Riding Shotgun interview series.

We’re happy to introduce the Windsor Collection—the first presented by long-time BaT seller and commenter Swingandamiss, who appropriately hails from Windsor, Connecticut. For a group of just seven cars, the collection covers a lot of automotive ground with offerings ranging from a classy pre-war Packard to a rare ’80s sport truck. Auctions will begin going live on Tuesday, September 2, and additional lots will be added over the following days.
We know it’d be healthy to spend some time away from your screens this Labor Day weekend—still, we’re doing our darnedest to make sure you won’t stop looking at and thinking about all variety of strange and special vehicles. We closed nearly 1,400 auctions in the last seven days and have since replaced them with 1,100 more, so to save you some time we’ve done the hard work of compiling this compact list of odd or noteworthy cars, trucks, boats, bikes, and leather jumpsuits on BaT.
BaT member JoeyFreshwater recently wrapped up a road trip home following his win of this 996 C4 cabriolet, sold by GattoVeloce in an April 2025 BaT auction—but with a twist. He wrote in to tell us about it:
This story isn’t some saccharine tale of polished chrome and rose-tinted spectacles. It’s about the brutal, beautiful reality of chasing an automotive itch, especially when that itch involves one of Stuttgart’s finest, albeit most misunderstood, creations.

We made sure not to speed through this week’s thread, which was filled with a variety of quirky stops and go-to eateries. As we visited each of the nominations, one particular comment grabbed our attention. BaT member @TimM happened upon a submarine along his travels—a strange sighting considering he was approximately 1,000 miles from the Atlantic Ocean! It was the HMCS Ojibwa, and he wrote all about it:
BaT member Ctsvr brought his CTS-V race car, which he won from Dlawrench back in November 2024, back into to the public spotlight at Road Atlanta. He recently wrote in to tell us about his Cadillac and included some great photos and a video of the car in action!
As a Cadillac CTS-V enthusiast (specifically the first-generation V1), I naturally had my notifications turned on specifically for that model on Bring a Trailer. When I saw this Cadillac CTS-V.R up for sale, I knew I had to make it happen. I had previously attempted to purchase one of the other chassis out of a private collection, but was never able to come to an agreement on the deal.
Our newest Success Story video is a bit of a departure from the norm. Most of our subjects grew up with some sort of attachment to and appreciation of cars and car culture. Old cars weren’t a part of Ranna‘s life until very recently, but through running her family’s home design business she developed an eye for style, an appreciation of craft, and a fearless approach to life. On a lark, she bought a blacked-out 1979 Corolla on BaT in January, taught herself to drive stick, and has been enjoying the change of pace that comes with driving a fully analog vehicle. We spent the day with Ranna, her family, and Doom (an adorable Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix), and we’re excited to share her story.
