    WINNER’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

    Happy Monday! We’re back to announce the winner for our Question of the Week, where our victor will accept a $25 credit for a hat or T-shirt from the BaT Gear Store and the acclaim of their peers.

    Our question was: What production vehicle most deserved a factory V8?

    Thanks to everyone who chimed in! We read all 110+ comments, bench raced a few of your theoretical V8 swaps, and tallied up all your nominations. The Plymouth Prowler was the most-mentioned pick this week, but we already used it as an example in our original post! So we’re exercising our Editorial Privilege this week and picking the nomination that stood out to us the most—the Pontiac Fiero. @Mike_Breinin was the first one there, but seeing as he’s a multi-time QotW winner, we wanted to spread the wealth. So we’re handing the prize to runner-up, @40fordlover.

    BaT member Govehillbill recently wrote in with an update on the 1967 Volvo 122S that he won in April 2025:
    I recently purchased a 1967 Volvo 122S on Bring a Trailer. It was an unrestored, low-mileage, original car located in Oregon and had been an one-owner car until 2025. There were lots of pictures, and the seller was helpful answering my questions. Still, buying a vehicle sight unseen across the country was a challenge for me. Things went very smoothly after the auction, and I received the car about a week later.

    10/7/25 Update: BaT user NIACC wrote in last year to tell us about the 1957 BMW Isetta 300 that he won from campari in a March 2024 BaT auction. Now he’s back to share a few improvements he’s made to it since then!
    NIACC writes:
    I’ve had a lot of cool cars over the years, but none get the universal attention that this Isetta does whenever it leaves the garage. And after a bit of a learning curve, it has proven to be quite reliable.

    I saw one of these driving down our main street years ago when the rear door opened and the coffin slid out and kept rolling down the street. People tried to slow it down but no luck. Finally a clerk from the local drug store ran out, caught up to the speeding casket and sprayed Robitussin all over it.
    Boy did that ever stop the coffin.”

    “I’ve been a 912 owner and enthusiast since 1968, and this is by far the finest 912 driver I’ve ever seen. I know the guy who designed and built it, and I’ve seen the car numerous times.     The original Avanti is hard to improve on. Like the E-Type, I consider the original car one of the stand out designs of the 20th century.
    Over the past 60 years however, improvements in suspension, brakes, and powertrain have made thoughtful enhancements to the original design very desirable.
    This Avanti covers all the bases with exceptionally fine taste while not offending the original design. Great…”

    “………..calypso red 740i. That sparked a two year search for the “right for me” e38. I was very lucky to find a 2001 740i sport with only 27k miles, which is still sitting in my garage with approx. 30k miles. It still brings me back to the memory of the calypso red e38 in the showroom and the love affair continues.”

    This Success Story comes to us from BaT member MPM97turbo, who won this 2010 Mini Cooper convertible from robiemini73 in a May 2025 BaT auction:
    Anyone who has gone down the rabbit hole of searching for a good used Mini is in for quite the journey. From how the car was driven to the year, specific model, engine, transmission, mileage, and maintenance records—all of it matters. There were even mid-year changes that could make a big difference. Searching on the Intraweb can make the predicament both easier and worse. It’s overwhelming.

    I threw my hands up in the air. Instinct. Tried to speak but my voice caught somewhere in the back of my throat and I choked on whatever it was I was going to say. Found out it’s true that you see your life pass before your eyes when you’re facing death but since I was only twelve my retrospective went by pretty quickly and just like that I was back in the here and now, August of 1973, standing in Old Man Granger’s dark and dank and dingy garage, staring straight up the barrel of his shotgun.
