    “I’m an avid Toyota & 100 series enthusiast and owner since new. I bought an 03 LC new & traded it in for an 06 LX and never looked back. The VVT was a big improvement for me. The 06 & 07 are by far the most desirable and the ones you want to buy. The LX has a much more luxurious feel and is better insulated, no doubt about it. It is very easy to tell if these cars were neglected or cared for and this is the best one I’ve ever seen. GLWS”

    Normally, being “over the hill” isn’t usually a compliment, but daily driving an older (never say “obsolete”) car takes some serious chutzpah. So this week, we’re choosing the absolute oldest vehicle still being driven today. Right now, in 2025, BaT member @fomocoguy‘s daily driver is a prewar car from 1940, making him this week’s winner:

    “Still driving my 1940 Plymouth every day. Can always count on it now that I’ve installed an 8-volt battery. Not much to go wrong with it that sidelines it. And it’s a hoot to drive, always a conversation with someone at every stop I make.”

    “My Dad was always a “Buy American” guy, until his experiences with malaise-era GM and Chrysler K-cars finally convinced him to give Toyota a try. He bought an ’87 Camry — same generation as this one. It opened his eyes so wide that he bought another one in ’89, then one after the other in ’96, ’02, ’08, ’12 and ’14, When he passed, we took the ’12 and ’14 and traded it in for a ’19 for my Mom to drive. But it all started with this generation of Camry.”

    BaT Auction Success Story: Done-and-Ready Series II XKE You Should Know

    BaT member Rodmitchell won this Jaguar XKE Series II Roadster from 911r in a June 2024 BaT auction, and he wrote in to tell us about his experience:
    I have always admired XKEs, especially those in Signal Red over beige. I come from Canada—the land of winter salt—so not many of the early cars survived up here. An XKE had been high on my bucket list, but the low value of the Canadian dollar ($1.40 Cdn = $1.00 US, at the time) made buying anything in the US a very expensive proposition. So I looked at buying a donor car and taking it to a Jaguar specialist on our side of the border. We had found a good driver-quality Series II car, which was my focus. However, putting it through a 1.5-year rotisserie refurb would’ve cost about $175,000 Cdn, not including the value of the donor car or taxes. I could not make a financial case for it, so my new focus became looking for a recently refurbished car that was far more reasonable in price. This route saved me 18 months’ worth of waiting.

    This Success Story comes to us from BaT member Dwathencars, who won this 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spider conversion from silverarrowcarsltd in a May 2025 BaT auction:
    I’ve wanted a Daytona Spider ever since an acquaintance pulled into my driveway with his as I was replacing the water pump on my first (of many) E-Types some 50(!) years ago. I’ve definitely indulged in fun cars over the years; this is the seventh collector car in our “fleet,” which covers various themes—convertible, sporty, fast, fun to drive on tours, and kept in a condition that we could drive across the country tomorrow at a moment’s notice. That’s the goal, anyway! Our oldest is a 1938 Jaguar SS100 that I’m in year four of restoring and just starting to reassemble. Our fastest (until the Daytona) was our 1964 289 Cobra.
