A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:

“New for me as well! “Scorpio” caught my eye – I had an ’89 Merkur Scorpio from new for several years and really liked it. But it had a V6 which I think was also used in the Bronco. In an amazing coincidence, a co-worked had a Merkur XR4Ti, so we had the rare parking lot that had two Merkurs in it. GLWTA”

It has always been my dream to own a Clive Cussler owned vehicle. As Mr. Cussler created my all-time fictional hero, in Dirk Pitt.
To this day, part of my automotive bucket list if I ever had lottery money, is a Cussler musuem collection vehicle. Right after a MB 540K and a Duesenberg SC cabriolet.
As a child growing up, I was a rabid James Bond fan, and had started scuba diving at 12, and become a member of the Cousteau Society the same year.

“Still my favorite of the Cobra-R models. I know the 2000 seems to be everyone’s top pick, but I like the trimmer lines of the first generation SN95 and the ease of the 351W. I guess this one has such low miles it would be a shame to drive it much, but I would drive it regardless.”

“Any compact two door wagon is cool in its own right and being a Stude ensures it’ll be the only one anywhere it goes. What’s most unique and exciting about this rarity though is the engine build. I had no idea there was an array of speed equipment for the flathead six, particularly to the level of a high compression aluminum head. Reading the attached Cathcart article (from 1999!) suggests at least 140HP from this little 169ci flattie. It’s got to be a light car, I’m guessing under 3K lbs…”

“On my dog walks about once every two weeks, only on sunny days, a 442 that looks to be identical to this car drives by me. I’ve yet to be able to check out the car up close. The sound of that car is amazing. The look of that car is amazing. snap my neck following it as it goes by. Probably one of the best looking cars in my town, and there are plenty of nice cars. “@RTCH having worked at David Hobbs Honda in 2000, when they debuted in the US. Apparently, at least for the initial wave or first year, dealerships had the option having all their S2000s fully equipped with aero accessories or non of them equipped. Not sure how long that lasted, but Hobbs had all the initial S2000s equipped. When the first ones arrived at the dealership everything came to a halt, all employees came outside to gawk while David and Greg inspected and tested them for about 30…”

“I ordered one of these, a British Racing Green unit in NYC and put $25 down on it. It was priced at $6641.00. I didn’t inherit any money when I turned 21 like I told the dealer I might and had to release it to sell to someone else. It did show up on the showroom floor and that was the last time I saw it. I later converted the front of my MGA to look like a cobra… and then changed it back when I made it my first race car… This was in 1965.”

“I worked on the development of these back at the start of my career as an engineer with Isuzu in Cerritos, CA. The prototype from Japan was purple and RHD which got lots of stares and thumbs up Super fun cars to drive. Drove it to Lake Tahoe through many fun roads. Handled pretty well for a SUV.”
