“Love this example. I also have a Piedmont Green Metallic E400 Wagon (more photos on my IG @ptsrs) and can confirm it is a wonderful family car. It also gets surprisingly a lot of compliments, especially from young dads haha. As the other Piedmont owner said, the color is incredibly dynamic. The M276 V6 is buttery smooth and has a good reputation for reliability.

“My parents bought a blue 1964 Wagon like this and we made two big trips from MN, one to Southern California, including Disneyland, and the other to Alaska. The Alaska trip was memorable for my two brothers and I. We had 11 flat tires, the gravel was almost as big as the mosquitoes, big trucks flew by us as we rolled up the windows and ducked, of course the windshield needed replacement and within a year all of the paint had peeled off the hood. “Last summer the Eastern PA Chapter of the Audi Club did it’s annual covered bridges drive and ice cream run. A very fun and spirited ~150 mile drive. I show up in my 1989 80 Quattro, my wife drove our 2001 TT 225 Roadster, and a guy I had never seen before at any Audi event shows up in one of these. Jaws dropped. He was super nice, down to earth, and had no problem with any of us getting in and checking it out.”

“That’s legit and 100% original IMHO. Worked at a Schwinn shop as a kid and put together a few of those. A lot of people (cool kids) ditched the front fender. That’s the original seat. Those are the original pedals. This is all recollection but very clear. . They were wheelie machines and no fun whatsoever to get up a hill! An early but awesome memory! GLWTA!”

“Great 914. Had a set of American Le Mans waiting in my parents garage while waiting for my 914 in gold metallic . Mine was born in JAN 71 so I missed on first year of production. I still very much enjoy this car today and the stock wheels and hubcaps are still in the American Racing boxes 55 years later. The 1.7 had more HP & torque than the 1.8 and makes for a great driver.”

“I have owned five Mexicos and 13 Ghibli’s over the last 25 years and theses are such great cars . Mexicos are very similar to the Ghibli as they share many mechanical components and the same parts book. Dry sump for the Ghibli and wet for the Mexico. both cars on BAT currently are very nice examples. “That’s the car that started it all for me. I went to high school with Bob Akin’s son, who I believe is a member here at BaT. I remember fondly of him driving a new 944 onto the Quad and seeing it for the first time. As a kid, that was so exciting.”
