“Man oh man, nobody writes any more like these guys did. Never knew it was anything other than as-expected and normal when I’d wait for my Car and Driver, Road & Track and Auto Week magazines to arrive in the mail to immediately read from front to back beginning as a 6 or 7 year old in the 70’s.
No wonder I became a car nut. It can be attributed to the brilliant authors of the articles written by these guys.

“Over the past fifty years, we’ve owned too many Saabs to count and a few Porsches along the way. An older perfectly maintained low miles Porsche comes through BaT every week. “I worked for AMC/Renault during development of this vehicle. Renault engineers would trailer them out to MIS (where I worked) and we would run top speed over and over and over after component and tuning changes. I don’t recall the top speed. I do remember that they would huddle around and discuss the current results and then ask us to make a change – then they would look at me and say, ‘encore, s’il vous plait”. It was a dirty job but someone had to do it.”
