“Well, buying a Porsche wasn’t exactly on my bingo card for today, but this is the kind of stupid excitement I’m here for.”

“A high school friend had one of these. It was light on its feet and plenty quick. Ahead of its time with an overhead cam engine, and so rare today. Jay Leno’s build of his Firebird Sprint adds some value to this one, in my opinion.”

“My first car was a 1963 Rambler that my uncle sold to me for $50. It ran forever — you can’t kill these cars! Although the vacuum powered windshield wipers would not move in cold weather, so in snow storms the passenger had to lean out of the window and manually swish the wipers so the driver could see!”

“As the 3rd owner of this wonderful car I can tell you it was my pride and joy from roughly 2009-2014. All records and receipts from Esoteric and San Antonio Texas were mine. Car was a later production VIN so had a couple unique and relatively rare options … Rosso scuderia brake calipers … only available in the later production run as many cars had Rosso corsa calipers even though the exterior was spec’d in Rosso scuderia … one of those details that ‘if you know you notice’

“For those who are about to restore one of these models some advice. One of the most frustrating part of the restoration was obtaining the right size rubber souround for the door opennings. Tried twice from a well known UK supplier and they both failed. Found a Cicogna made part at a German supplier which finally worked.”

“Congratulations @vettboy1 !!!! You’ve just landed an incredible Family Truckster. I hope it brings you as many smiles, memories, and adventures as it did for me and my family. Enjoy the ride to Wally World!
A huge thank you to everyone who followed along, bid, and left such kind comments throughout the auction! I really enjoyed talking about the car and laughing at all the movie quotes. I hope the Truckster continues to bring joy and smiles in its next chapter. Cheers to all of you, this…”

“My grandparents bought a Yugo new (I want to say it was a 1987). I was about 13 or 14 years old, few years later my single parent mom working 3 jobs to raise 3 kids needed a “reliable” car and bought the Yugo from my grandparents. I was 16 or 17 by now and getting into my driving days. The Yugo manual transmission is the car that I learned in. After I got my license, I drove the car often and one day rolled through an intersection and crashed into an old lady. I was devastated that I wrecked my…”

“I saw this car in person at a show several years back, this is a very well kept and well curated example that presents at least as nice in person as it does in photos.
A notchback 900 is on my list of Saabs to own, I don’t care if it’s a 2 or 4 door. I’m hoping one day I’ll come across another admiral blue over blue cloth sedan like I had in college.”

“@68Vet
Baja California and back to Sacramento in a slant six Dart? That is an absolute adventure and proof positive that these cars were built for exactly that kind of journey. No drama, no breakdowns, just mile after mile of honest reliable transportation through some pretty unforgiving terrain. That slant six was one of the toughest engines ever bolted into an American car and your story is a perfect reminder of that.
Thank you for sharing that memory and for the kind words. That is…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“Jimmy Don Ventura had owned enough unusual automobiles over the years to believe he understood the public. He’d driven a lime-green AMC Gremlin, a Triumph Spitfire that leaked oil with the determination of an East Texas mosquito, and a Plymouth Barracuda that had once stranded him in front of the Dairy Twin during the lunch rush. Every one of them had attracted comments, questions, and unsolicited mechanical advice from complete strangers.
Then he bought Fred.
Officially, it was a 1949…”

“in all this auction excitement, I’ve devoted a certain amount of my morning coffee time searching the internet for my own Ferrari 288 GTO – a number of which are thankfully within my price range, including Walmart, for about $100.
However, due to their scaled down 1:18 size and non-running status, it’s unlikely I’ll be driving it anywhere other than “my imagination” during this lifetime.
Perhaps my NEXT lifetime.”

“Another interesting fact thanks to Andy is this car was shipped on August 17, 1965 and delivered to Hayward Motors in CA and on the deliver truck were two additional 350’s as well as a prototype GT40….now that would be a cool truck to see driving down the road!!! This car is a statement piece and one of the true great American muscle cars.”
