Most Flattering Swimsuits To Suit Your Shape

most flattering swimsuits

Hit the beach in a swimsuit that suits your body shape. We’re not just talking about being beach ready here, we are meaning getting swimwear that provides you with the best fit. A fit that complements and feels great, as opposed to the obvious flaws and glitches as looking great’s one thing but you need to feel it too. Do you know your shape? Knowing your body shape is imperative and let’s face it, we are all unique in terms of shape, length and size. There are, generally, body shapes that are common and apply to the overall majority. But this doesn’t mean there are swimsuits, bikinis or other beachwear items that answer the common body shape. Though certain body shapes can be common this doesn’t mean there’s a bikini that will look great on all people with a common body shape. This is because of other factors, such as wide shoulders, or an hourglass waist. These factors can make or break a swimsuit look, plus there are other body shape factors to take into consideration too, we’ll discuss these later. Swimsuits for every body shape… So, here we’ve drawn upon the most common body shapes and married these up with what we think are the most suitable bikinis, along with other swimwear items. And when we say suitable we mean a fit that fits comfortably without losing any of the styles that comes with the swimsuits or bikinis we sell. The ultimate shapewear guides! We’ve tried to create the ultimate guide to covering all common body types with suitable swimwear outfits. The aim is to show the most suitable as well as the most stylish looks, for the beach this year, that complement your body type. Rectangle Body Shape (Square; no waist) A recent survey conducted in the UK by a leading university revealed that the most common body type in the UK is rectangular. The rectangle body shape lacks curvature from the hips to the chest, including bottom and waist too. If you are unsure if you qualify as having one of the most common body types in the UK, look at the below list. The defining parts of the rectangular body shape consist of – Flat bum & hips Top and bottom take the same size for clothes Small bust & waist Average tummy size Straight shoulder line and rib cage Best swimsuits for the rectangular shaped body Create an hourglass look with a cut-out swimsuit, we’ve talked about this before and still think it’s one of the best, as well as simplest, looks you can attain and carry off. Cut-out swimsuits are still a fashionable look for the beach and there are some great designs available as fashion houses continue to pump these out, for beachgoers across the globe. Check out our collection of fashionable cut-out swimsuits here. Rectangular shape body options Ever considered a front tie bikini? If you don’t want to go for the swimsuit then a bikini with a front tie makes a lot of difference to your look. The style of front tie bikinis is numerous and we have a vast selection for you to pick and choose from. Look at this fabulous piece from David. Again, lay emphasis on the centre area of your body with subtle design enhancements, front tie bikinis offer this fashionable enhancement. So, you’ll be able to add an extra, stylish, dimension to your beachwear with one of the many front tie bikinis we have available. Want more than just a front tie bikini? If you’re not convinced about our front-tie bikini promo, then there is another style type you may prefer; stringed bikini bottom briefs are wonderful for enhancing the hips of any rectangular shaped body. Another look that works wonders for the rectangle body shape is halter neck swimsuits. We’ve got a fantastic selection of swimsuits in a range of styles, select the Halter option within the Style navigation menu to view our latest range, or just follow the link. Colour and swimsuit psychologies Fancy an animal print swimsuit? We still think it’s best to go for a centred print that draws the eye, along with angled stripes that can further enhance the bust giving a narrow waist effect. It’s all about creating the illusion of a fantastic waist and we’ve some great one-piece swimsuits that do just that. Best prints we’ve seen for the rectangular body shape must be that of floral. These pieces from our Maryan Mehlhorn range look gorgeous and in no way, lose any stylish elements. What to avoid If you are one of the many who has been blessed with the rectangle body shape then ensure you at lease avoid the below if you can’t manage the above tips: Don’t go for a square neck; don’t emphasise the brick shape that’s already there, it’ll do nothing for your look. Avoid the bandeau; even with a sensational print the shape and how the bandeau wraps won’t complement the rectangular shaped body. As we’ve previously stated, it’s the most common body shape in the UK. Here are others with the rectangle body shape and look how they handle swimsuits and bikinis – Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Middleton, Kate Moss, Nicole Ritchie, Anne Hathaway, Uma Thurman all have a rectangle body shape in common. Their well-proportioned bodies, straight waist, lean limbs and small chest make them look like athletes without even trying. Enhance your rectangular body shape and utilise our tips to achieve a great beach or poolside look this summer. Round (apple) To make the most of your circular shape you need a swimsuit that’s going to complement your curves whilst cutting in so to enhance a look of definition. A less defined waist with the weight carried on the bust and stomach epitomises the apple shaped body profile. The right swimwear will enhance the apple shaped body highlighting features that may otherwise go unnoticed. The main elements that make up the apple shaped body: Hips that are narrow A waist with little definition Broad shoulders Large busted area The perfect bikini or swimsuit for the apple shaped body should complement by pulling away attention from certain areas, whilst drawing the eye toward other areas of the body, to do this well you need to understand your body shape. The apple shape needs a swimsuit or bikini that creates a balance that naturally takes emphasis away from the bust, shoulders and stomach and draws the eye to the bottom half of the body. Best swimwear for the Apple shaped body If you fit the criteria for the apple body shape and are set on a bikini, then first consider the straps. You’ll need ample support so a bikini with thick straps is a must, this will also complement your shoulders by making them appear smaller. Ensure you go with an underwired bikini top too; a lift is always good and good support essential. Your matching bikini bottoms should not match, well, not entirely. They should draw the eye, so go for more of a pattern in the bottoms, brighter colours and consider sashes or side ties. Want a swimsuit Same principles apply to the swimsuit; go for wider straps, stomach support and go for the non-padded inner bust. Same with the design too, keep it busy below so to draw the attention away. We have a great selection of swimsuits and bikinis that tick all the boxes of suitability for the apple-shaped amongst us. Take a browse through our site, our personal recommendation would be the range offered by Pour Moi, what do you think? Inverted Triangle (top heavy) Not so much an equilateral triangle, but triangle in ‘nature’, or imagine a carrot. Funny eh, but bear with us. Now, just imagine wide at the top but gets slimmer as you move downwards… That’s the Inverted Triangle body shape, or top heavy, carrot, just call it what you will. Some even refer to it as Strawberry, some even call it the “inverted triangle”. Do you fit the bill? There are a few options but generally, you’re slightly heavier on top. So, if you’re blessed with narrow hips, smaller waist with a larger top area then welcome to the class of inverted triangle shape. Best swimwear for the inverted triangle shape Pieces for the triangular shaped body usually focus on enhancing the existing curves whilst playing down the stronger shoulder area. We’ve some marvellous pieces that do this beautifully, like these halter-style tops. Go for styles that can be tied back over the neck and around the waist, the triangular shaped among us can usually allow for the occasional alteration. Another flattering style for the inverted triangle is the plunge neckline. Deep necklines make your torso look longer. Hour Glass Referred to by many as the perfect body shape the hourglass figure commonly features shoulders that are in line with the hips. More common features that comfortably place you within the hourglass shape feature: A clear definition of a defined bust and waist. An obvious curvature of the bottom Feel the benefit of most fitted styles. Go slightly larger on top to accommodate the bust. There are steps you can take to give your body the look of an hourglass shape; crossover wraps are common amongst many who almost have the hourglass look. The hourglass-shaped lady will look their best in wearing fitted and shaped lined swimsuits, and they’re perfect for a bikini set. Rouching effects also help but don’t overdo it. Beware of anything that will add any extra volume to your waist; it’s just not needed. Your balanced curves should look enhanced and even more voluptuous if bold colours are thrown in to mix too. So, don’t be afraid or put off with anything that looks too bright or bold in colour, try them out. Best swimwear for the hourglass shape If you’re blessed with an hourglass shape the best complementary swimsuits are those that show off your body type. The best types we’ve in stock are these halter necks with plain lines and simple frills. So, show off your eye-catching silhouette shape with one of the Gottex pieces, we’ve several dozens just like this, which enhance the hourglass-shaped body. Or, flaunt your desirable hourglass shape with one these fantastic bikini sets from Acqua & Sale. There are several other styles that match the hourglass shape too; consider thicker strapped bikini tops or swimsuits, especially if you’re a bit heavy up top, as you may need the extra support. Pear Shaped We think Beyoncé whenever we hear the Pear-Shaped body term. It’s an honour, we think, to have the pear-shaped body, shared with some of the best movers and shakers in the land. So, are you a real pear shape? If you are then you’ll have focused weight on around your central areas, mainly the hips, bum and thigh region, topped by a slender top half culminating in narrower shoulders and a smaller bust. The common features of a pear-shaped body consist of: Shoulders that are narrower than the hips. Your waist is clearly defined. You carry some weight on your hips and thigh areas. Sizes on the top half are smaller than on the bottom. When choosing swimwear for the pear-shaped lady don’t forget about body balance. Consider items that will flatten out your body shape, whilst not forget about proportions. Best swimwear for the pear Weight, on the pear-shaped body, tends to focus on the lower half, around the hips and thighs. So, the focus should target the upper area of the body by making use of pretty, fun and maybe even daring detail. The bottom half of the body should be darkened and a high-legged brief to give the impression of a leaner and longer leg. Remember the detail; darkened colour and images minimise attention (the bottom half) whilst patterns and colours draw attention (upper half). With some pear-shaped bodies, a bit of experimentation may be involved. If your top and bottom size are mixed then…

We Have Lost It For The Gottex Couture 2019 Collection

have lost gottex

The Gottex Couture 2019 swimwear collection has been released and, we have to admit, it’s just as fascinating as one can expect. We have lost it for Gottex swimwear’s most luxurious range. Only the best swimwear styles make the cut for this exclusive collection, inspired in relevant female figures in history, such as members of the royalty, and female mythology goddesses. It’s the second year Gottex creates an Haute Couture-inspired range. In case you hadn’t heard of it before, let us introduce you to this unique range. This is our most luxurious collection of swimwear. After the success of its 60th Anniversary Jewel Box collection two years ago, the Israeli brand decided to establish a seasonal range, aimed to a more exclusive public. If you don’t remember how amazing Gottex Couture 2018 collection was, you can check out the post we wrote to introduce you this limited-edition range. Some of these stunning styles of past seasons are still available for purchasing, too! THE Bikini: Gottex Couture Cleopatra Bikini This stunning bikini is as breath-taking in person as in the picture. We swear. It brings together some of the top trends of the season: the high neck (oh, yeah, high-neck bikinis and swimsuits are so hot this season!), the high waisted brief and the panelled swimwear. This is the combination of opaque fabric and see-through areas. Not to forget how amazing is the pattern in the embroidery! A tribute to the Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia Do you remember the Gottex Jewel Box Star Sapphire Swimsuit? This new swimsuit, inspired by Elena Vladimirovna, the Grand Duchess of Russia, bring us back to one of Gottex’s first couture-inspired swimsuits. Both have a similar shape and elegant neckline motifs. Both are simply stunning. However, we love the hip fishnet detail of this new one-piece style. Can you see it? It can draw your silhouette and make your legs look longer. Utterly seduction. This cut-out swimsuit has it all! This Gottex luxurious cut-out swimsuit has it all: the hourglass look only cut-out styles have (or should we even call it a monokini?), a seductive plunge neckline, which is flattering no matter your body shape, and, of course, this trendy bronze finish. Did you know glossy fabrics and, especially, in metallic colours, are hot this season? If a boring look isn’t part of who you are, you should give a try to this swimsuit, which, we forgot to mention, is a tribute to the Greek goddess of War. What’s not to love in this gorgeous monochrome swimsuit? We have left the best for the end… or not, because, frankly, all Gottex Couture 2019 swim styles are pretty amazing! If we had to pick only one of these amazing styles, we’d go for the Gottex Couture Rania swimsuit, in the picture above. The reason? It’s so elegant! Classic and timeless, yet so on trend! The monochrome combo never goes out of fashion and that floral pattern is rich and creative. Does it feel like it’s got too many details? No, it doesn’t. It’s got the right amount of everything. No doubt it’s inspired in Rania of Jordan, one of the most stylish queen ever. Other amazing swimsuits in the Gottex Couture 2019 collection we love: Gottex Couture Makeda Swimsuit: A laser-cut velvety decorative pattern, over the finest mesh. Gottex Couture Cleopatra Cut-Out Swimsuit: The one-piece version of the Cleopatra bikini. As stunning as the two-piece! Gottex Couture Diana Swimsuit: A tribute to Diana Princess Of Wales, who, by the way, was a fan of Gottex swimwear. This swimsuit has lovely feather prints in an elegant silver colour. Very flattering! Have you also fallen for any of these little beauties? Check out the new Gottex Couture 2019 collection here. And, why not, take the opportunity to discover new designs. We have just added new styles to our Gottex Cruise and Gottex Profile sections as well!

Can You Wear A Swimsuit As A Bodysuit?

can you wear

The first time we heard that you could wear a swimsuit as a bodysuit, our reaction was… ‘Wait! What?’. How come we had never thought of wearing a one-piece swimsuit as bodywear before? It only took us a few seconds to realise what a great idea this was. So, now we have decided to share with you our little research on the best swimsuits to wear as a bodysuit. Who started the trend? Who first wore a swimsuit as a bodysuit? We aren’t sure who was the first person we show rocking a swimsuit and regular clothes. Surely it must have been a celebrity or a fashion blogger! One of the bloggers we worked with in the past, Manchester-based fashion blogger Laura Kate Lucas, wore this amazing black swimsuit in the picture above with denim shorts and strapped sandals in this post of 2017. We remember thinking we could totally wear that outfit outside, in the street. A zipped one-piece swimsuit could easily pass for one of the Wolford Jamaika bodysuits, right? What celebrities wore it? Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Penelope Cruz, Kourtney Kardashian… more and more celebrities have joined the trend of wearing their favourite swimsuit as a bodysuit. Most celebrities have gone for plain swimsuits, mainly black swimsuits, but it doesn’t mean that you cannot get creative. For instance, Gigi Hadid was spotted by PopSugar wearing a nautical-inspired swimsuit. Why should I try this fashion trend? You should definitely embrace the trend and give swimsuits a try! What’s to lose? First of all, trying new styles is always a good idea. At the same time, this is a great idea to recycle your designer swimsuit and give it a second life as a bodysuit. If you invested in one our the Gottex Couture swimsuits in the past, you have no excuses! Any of these little beauties would make a perfect swimsuit to wear as a bodysuit, don’t you think? A black swimsuit… and what else? Black swimsuits are the most obvious choices, as well as plain coloured swimsuits, being Red, White or Navy some popular choices, according to our own particular research. However, there are many other styles you can try out. Animal prints, bright neon and mesh/panelled swimsuits are some of our personal recommendations if you want to get creative here. Or, maybe, you can go for a naughtier look, with a good plunge neckline or swimsuits with cut-outs. There are infinite possibilities. Swimwear Trends For Autumn, 2013

swimwear trends autumn

Swimwear trends for autumn are quite varied this year. One trend certainly stands out though. Swimwear this season should be bursting with colour. Take this new article by Elle, for instance. Designs come in every colour from sharp pink to muted beige, but each new bikini or swimsuit uses colour passionately. Here’s a design from Roidal we particularly love, Roidal Vera. This is a beautiful bikini, but it does something a little different than most Roidal designs and other seasons’ swimwear trends. Instead of using bright shades like sunshine yellow and crystal blue, the designers have chosen a marine palette with sea green and violets, like something from the seabed. It’s a different use of hue and texture, but one that’s just as powerful and enchanting. So why not try something a little different this season and go for something a little more outside the box.

Blue Mojito Kaftans

blue mojito kaftans

Blue Mojito kaftans have just arrived with us, here at UK Swimwear. A new brand is always an exciting thing, but it’s hard to describe the excitement when the brand is this wild. Blue Mojito is one of the most inspirational and creative souls in swimwear. Blu Mojito kaftans are all astounding in their opulence. Kaftans are their staple garment, and every design is jam-packed with colour, precious jewels and out of the box thinking. With a touch of inspiration from all over the globe, from the Indian subcontinent to the Aztec jungles to the Polynesian islands, each kaftan is perfect in its own way. Like any great designer, their range is small enough to allow them to concentrate on what they truly care about. This season, they have released no more than four kaftans in total. Plenty of other swimwear designers keep their ranges small, but this is an incredible feat. But you know why this is the case when you look at one of these designs for the first time. Even the photography is out of this world. It all conveys a kind of mysticism and other-worldly beauty. All with its use of colour and references to certain traditional patterns. And to more abstract ones too. With a brand so visually stunning, there’s the risk the design has put too much into the visual and not enough into the garment itself. Blue Mojito kaftans are one of those exceptional examples of a brand that lives up to its stunning image. The quality of the kaftans is unrivalled, as should be the case for a designer that makes nothing else. We’re so enthusiastic to see what Blue Mojito kaftans produces in the future. Their work is so passionately designed, it’s hard to imagine what could possibly come next. See the rest of our blog right here for more reviews.

Roidal Samoa, An Ancient Kind Of Beauty

roidal samoa ancient

The Ancient Beauty Of Roidal Samoa This is the brand new Roidal Samoa. A fantastic name in Spanish swimwear, Roidal are masters of nature inspired swimwear. They are great at weaving the wildest elements of the natural world into their swimwear. And they do so with skill and finesse. The most impressive examples of this all seem to be emerging from their their new collection. One design in particular. We were stunned by this piece, and we think you will be too. Roidal Samoa is one of the most creative and inspired swimwear designs we’ve seen in years. That is not just from Roidal either. It is from any design and from any name, too. Samoa blends tribal patterns with the most iconic animal prints, and thanks to that, they’ve created something quite beautiful. The animal chosen is the snake, of course. Snake skin and snake prints are one of the most popular in swimwear fashion. They are enchanting animals found natively to the Polynesian islands. And it is a symbol of mystery and power. Nature patterns have been in the making and moulding for millions of years. So they’re always classics and they’re adaptable to nearly any setting. Whilst the patterning on Roidal Samoa’s bust isn’t a traditional tribal pattern. It borrows from the muted teals and the swirling motifs from many different cultures you might recognise. Samoa has taken the essence of these great civilisations and peoples and has made them all her own. The blend is certainly eclectic and naturally daring. And this swimsuit is the least orthodox blend of patterns we’ve ever had the pleasure of reviewing. But that’s what makes it so astoundingly beautiful. Roidal Samoa is a breakthrough swimwear design that’s going to set a very high benchmark for other designers. This is the beginning of a new fashion era for beautiful swimwear.

Introducing the Gottex Jewel Box 60th Anniversary

introducing gottex jewel

The first styles in the Gottex Jewel Box have arrived and they are to die for! If you had taken a sneak-peek to our previous post about Kate Bock as the new face of Gottex on their 60th Anniversary special collection, you must have already expected them to be stunning. We can undoubtedly ensure this: They look even better in your hands, and, even more, once you try them on. This collection is more than a luxury swimwear collection. Every piece in the Gottex Jewel Box is a piece of art! Look at the five ranges inside Gottex’s 60 Anniversary collection we have already received… Gottex Jewel Box Platinum Animal printed swimwear is never out of fashion. However, animal prints happen to be a must-own style for 2017. Gottex has gone for an improved version of the fish scale pattern in the Platinum range, which is beautifully finished with silver metallic motifs. This is one of the most spectacular designs in the whole range, full of little details, such as the combination of mesh and opaque fabrics. A close look is much needed! Gottex Jewel Box Black Diamond It may look like a basic design, but it certainly doesn’t have anything simple. The Black Diamond range is full of little details and, as always in Gottex, has the ultimate luxury finish. The Gottex Black Diamond High Neck Swimsuit has an elegant finish with black diamonds embellished in the chic high neck net. Nothing like the classical little black swimsuit it looks at first sight. The Gottex Black Diamond Open Kimono With Belt gives that Boho-inspired look so popular these days. It’s the perfect addition to your holiday wardrobe. Gottex Jewel Box Amber Feathers All we can say about the Amber Feathers collection is this: The floral and tropical print is as beautiful as it looks in these pictures above. The colour combination is gorgeous, the prints, the frontal zip… it’s simply amazing! Can you tell is one of our favourite designs? Isn’t it too obvious? Gottex Jewel Box Dusk Onyx Gottex couldn’t have chosen a better design for their cover. The Dusk Onyx swimwear range is truly luxurious. The most expensive items in the collection, made with an exclusive laser cut technique and embellished with shiny metallic sequins. Sometimes we can’t even imagine how Gottex designers do it to create such amazing designs. It’s absolutely mind-blowing! Gottex Jewel Box Silver Agate Last but not least: Silver Agate, one of the biggest surprises for us. When we saw it the first time it surprised us how shiny the silver fabric was. Believe us when we say it looks fantastic once you put it on. It matches any colour skin, from pale skin colours, as in the model, to darker tones. Metallic swimwear is one of the trends of 2017, so this is a winning style! What’s your favourite so far? There’re still three more styles to come. Will they also steal our hearts?
