Hua Hin officials discuss new water production system

A new water production system planned for the Bor Fai area was the focus of a meeting chaired by Hua Hin City Municipality officials this week, as authorities reviewed design proposals and the next steps for the project.

Mr Nopporn Wutthikul, Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, presided over the meeting at the Poolsuk Meeting Room at the municipal office on Tuesday. The discussion brought together municipal leaders, technical officials and representatives from Asian Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd., who are advising on the project.

Also attending were Deputy Mayor Mr Sanpap Ungrassamee, Deputy Municipal Clerk Chief Petty Officer Likhit Noonin, and Ms Madee Raksa, Acting Director of the Waterworks Division and Director of the Sanitary Engineering Division, along with other relevant municipal staff.

Design proposals presented for Bor Fai water production system

During the meeting, the consulting company presented a proposed design concept for the new water production system and the associated water distribution pipeline network.

The design is based on calculations of water demand drawn from existing municipal facilities, including the Rai Nun Water Production Plant, which has a capacity of 900 cubic metres per hour, and the Damnoen Kasem Water Production Plant, which produces 120 cubic metres per hour. These figures were used to determine the appropriate size and performance of booster pumps that would work alongside the raw water transmission pipeline system.

Officials noted that the Bor Fai raw water intake area presents several technical constraints. The site has limited available space and is bordered by both a drainage canal and an irrigation canal. Despite these limitations, the planned facility is expected to support a water production capacity of approximately 500 cubic metres per hour.

To address these conditions, the proposed design includes an underground raw water storage tank constructed using either polyethylene (PE) pipes or steel pipes. Engineers said this approach would improve operational safety while also allowing easier long-term maintenance of the system.

The project also includes the installation of raw water transmission pipelines and treated water supply pipes connecting to the Bor Fai production station, as well as distribution pipelines serving surrounding service areas.

According to the proposal, both pipelines will be installed by excavating sections of road and laying the pipes in parallel. The raw water pipeline will be placed on the inner side of the trench, while the treated water pipeline will run on the outer side. The combined length of the pipeline installation is expected to be approximately 3.7 kilometres.

Representatives from Asian Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. said a further on-site inspection will be carried out to verify technical details before the project moves forward to the next stage of development.

Municipal officials said the project forms part of ongoing planning to strengthen the reliability and capacity of Hua Hin’s water supply system as demand continues to grow.
