Phetkasem Road diversion in Phetchaburi until July
If you’re travelling between Hua Hin and Bangkok, a Phetkasem Road diversion is now in place in Phetchaburi, not far from Makro, and is expected to remain in effect for several months.
Construction work is underway on both the southbound and Bangkok-bound lanes, with traffic being redirected around the Hua Saphan area as part of a bridge widening and road improvement project.

Southbound diversion route (towards Hua Hin)
Drivers heading southbound are required to use the diversion from km 150+600, in front of the PT petrol station at Hua Saphan, through to km 152+400, where a U-turn point is located near Makro Phu Khao Saphan.
Bangkok-bound diversion route
For those travelling towards Bangkok, traffic is being redirected onto a parallel road from km 154+200, just past Wat Wiang Khoi, through to km 147+700, beyond the Nong Ya Plong interchange.
Construction timeline and what to expect
The diversion is in place due to bridge widening works at the Hua Saphan curve, being carried out by the Department of Highways to improve road safety along this stretch of Phetkasem Road.
The construction period runs from 29 April to 28 July 2026, lasting approximately 90 days.
Motorists should expect possible delays, particularly during peak travel times, and are advised to allow extra time when travelling between Hua Hin and Bangkok.
Drivers are also encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and follow all posted traffic signs in the area.
Authorities have apologised for any inconvenience caused during the construction period.
