Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claim Trump suffered…

TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that international media outlets are increasingly portraying US President Donald Trump as having suffered a defeat in the conflict with Iran.

In a statement, the IRGC said reports from various parts of the world were highlighting what it described as the failure of the United States to achieve its objectives against Iran.

The Guards further claimed that the war had placed the Trump administration in a situation of its own making, with international coverage allegedly pointing to Washington’s difficulties in achieving its declared goals.

According to the IRGC, recent agreements between the parties should not be viewed simply as diplomatic arrangements but as evidence of what it described as an American retreat in the face of Iran’s military capabilities and negotiating position.

The Iranian force also maintained that the United States and Israel had failed to accomplish their stated objectives despite extensive military operations and accompanying media campaigns.

The IRGC characterized the latest agreements as reflecting Iran’s ability to withstand military pressure and secure a stronger position at the negotiating table.

Bollywood stars warned over pan masala ads

Three prominent Bollywood actors, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff, have been warned by Maharashtra authorities over advertisements linked to a brand associated with a prohibited pan masala product. The warning was issued as Maharashtra steps up its food safety campaign and takes stricter action against businesses and products considered to pose health risks. According to the state Food and Drug Administration, the actors appeared in promotional material for Vimal-branded cardamoms. Authorities, however, said the brand is strongly associated with a pan masala product that is prohibited under relevant regulations. Officials expressed concern that advertising the associated brand could indirectly promote the banned product by keeping its name and identity familiar to consumers. The Maharashtra FDA has asked the three actors to provide explanations within 15 days. The notice also warned that continued use of the brand in promotional campaigns could reinforce consumer recognition of the prohibited product. The controversy comes as Maharashtra’s food safety authorities have intensified inspections across Mumbai and other parts of the state. Officials have recently taken action against restaurants and food businesses over hygiene and safety violations. Authorities have also targeted large retail and food chains as part of the wider campaign, including the closure of several outlets and warehouses. Pan masala remains a major consumer market in India despite concerns over its health effects. Medical experts have repeatedly warned that products containing areca nut can contribute to serious oral health problems and increase the risk of conditions that may develop into oral cancer, particularly when tobacco is also involved. The actors’ representatives have not publicly responded to the warning so far. The company associated with the Vimal brand has also not issued a response to the notice. The case has renewed debate over celebrity endorsements of products that may be marketed under one category while remaining closely associated with restricted or harmful products. It also places greater attention on the responsibility of public figures when promoting brands with controversial product lines.

Gulf allies reportedly lose confidence in Trump over Iran war

Several US allies in the Gulf are reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated with President Donald Trump over what they see as a lack of effective diplomacy to end the war between the United States and Iran. According to a report by The Washington Post, officials from Arab, European and US circles said governments in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain were growing increasingly concerned about the Trump administration’s approach to the conflict. The report said Gulf allies were particularly worried that the Trump administration had failed to advance the diplomatic efforts needed to achieve a peaceful settlement with Iran. According to the newspaper, some Gulf states have also started discussing whether continuing to host major US military bases on their territory remains in their national interest. Three current US officials and a former American diplomat reportedly told the Washington Post that the debate had intensified after months of war and continued missile and drone attacks by Iran and groups allied with Tehran. The officials said some Gulf countries were questioning how beneficial it was to host large US military installations while also facing potential security risks linked to the conflict. One senior Gulf official was quoted as saying that Trump had started the war while Gulf countries were paying the price. Despite the growing frustration, Gulf states continue to regard Washington as a major security partner and an important supplier of military equipment. The United States maintains major military facilities in Qatar and Bahrain. These bases have long played an important role in Washington’s military presence and security strategy in the region. However, the reported dissatisfaction is prompting some Gulf governments to consider alternative security arrangements. Some countries have also started exploring other options to reduce their dependence on the United States for defence and regional security. The recent mutual defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan has also attracted attention in this context. A senior European official reportedly described the agreement as a signal to Washington. According to the official, the so-called Makkah defence agreement indicates that Gulf countries may no longer want to rely exclusively on the United States for their security. The development reflects growing concerns among some US allies about the consequences of the Iran conflict. While Gulf states continue to maintain close relations with Washington, the war has encouraged discussions about diversifying their security partnerships. The reported shift could have wider implications for US influence in the Gulf. Any reduction in reliance on American military protection could encourage regional countries to strengthen defence cooperation with other partners.

Taylor Swift wedding dress sparks bridal fashion buzz

Taylor Swift’s closely guarded wedding dress has already begun influencing the bridal fashion industry, even though the design has yet to be publicly revealed. Bridal companies are preparing for a possible surge in demand for gowns inspired by the pop star’s wedding look. Swift reportedly wore a Christian Dior creation during a private celebration at Madison Square Garden on July 3. Details of the dress have remained tightly controlled, leaving fans and designers waiting for images of the outfit. David’s Bridal is among the companies preparing for the potential trend. The retailer’s design team has reportedly developed around two dozen concepts based on styles associated with Swift. The designs explore elements such as Hollywood glamour and drop-waist silhouettes. The company expects to move quickly once more details about Swift’s dress become available. Search interest for Swift-inspired wedding dresses has also reportedly increased on the retailer’s website. Designers are considering several possibilities for the next major bridal trend. These include embellished ball gowns, minimalist dresses with subtle detailing and shorter outfits that could be worn during a wedding reception or ceremony change. Design teams are also watching for details beyond the dress itself. Swift’s hairstyle, makeup, colours, floral decorations and veil could all influence future bridal collections. Other major bridal brands are also monitoring the situation. Spanish bridal label Pronovias said it could take inspiration from the silhouette, fabrics and overall style associated with Swift’s wedding appearance. The company has previously drawn inspiration from high-profile celebrity and royal weddings. Designers at luxury bridal houses are particularly interested in whether Swift chooses an unusual colour, fabric or distinctive veil. Such details could quickly spread through the wedding fashion market if they attract attention from brides. New York-based Jenny Yoo is taking a more cautious approach and waiting for the dress to be revealed before making design decisions. The Justin Alexander Group is also considering the possibility of incorporating Swift-inspired elements into its upcoming collections. The company is currently working on designs for its spring and summer 2028 range. If Swift’s dress generates strong demand, bridal companies could attempt to bring similar styles to stores earlier than their usual production schedules. Independent bridal retailers are expected to take a less direct approach. Rather than reproducing Swift’s dress, they may highlight existing gowns that share similar features with the celebrity’s eventual look. The fashion frenzy also raises intellectual property questions. Legal experts say US copyright rules generally do not protect the basic cut, shape or silhouette of clothing. This can allow designers to create gowns influenced by a particular aesthetic. However, distinctive decorative details such as embroidery, beadwork or other original elements may receive legal protection. Brands could also face trademark or unfair competition issues if they falsely imply that a Swift-inspired gown is officially connected to the singer or Dior. For this reason, bridal companies are expected to draw inspiration from broader trends rather than directly market dresses using Swift’s or Dior’s names.
