Education Ministry Tightens School Security Nationwide

Education Minister Prasert Chandraruangthong has ordered schools nationwide to tighten security following the violent incident at a school in Nonthaburi province, while directing authorities to provide psychological care for students, teachers, parents, and others affected.

The Ministry of Education is working with Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Psychology and mental health agencies to deploy psychologists and specialists trained in Psychological First Aid. Counseling and continued care will be available to those directly affected, witnesses, and others experiencing distress related to the incident.

Prasert also urged the media and public to report responsibly and refrain from publishing or sharing the name, photograph, or other identifying information of the person responsible. He called for greater attention to the recovery of those affected and information that could help prevent similar incidents.

Schools nationwide have been instructed to review entry and exit controls, increase checks on people and vehicles entering school grounds, conduct emergency drills with local security agencies, and establish clear reporting channels and early-warning systems.
