Crackdown in Hua Hin Against Dozens of Foreigners Allegedly Using Thai Nominees to Hide Land Worth 300 Million Baht

The Royal Thai Police have rolled out Phase 6 of their nationwide campaign against foreign nominee networks, targeting companies and property projects in Hua Hin suspected of using Thai nationals as proxy shareholders for foreign investors.

Led by Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, the operation brought together police units, administrative officials, and economic and land authorities. The raids focused on nominee structures designed to conceal foreign ownership of land and real estate, including luxury housing and pool villa developments.

Investigations revealed 489 companies potentially involved in nominee arrangements, with 33 firms linked to land concealment. These entities collectively controlled 39 plots of land and properties worth about 300 million baht.

Authorities have filed 33 criminal cases against 84 suspects, secured 15 search warrants, and obtained 45 arrest warrants for foreign nationals. During the latest operation, police arrested 14 suspects of multiple nationalities and seized extensive evidence, including company registration papers, accounting records, computers, mobile phones, and electronic data.

    CTD arrests two suspected RAW terrorists in Okara

    The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested two suspected terrorists allegedly linked to India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), during an intelligence-based operation in Okara. According to CTD officials, the suspects, identified as Abdul Aziz and Wilayat Shah, are residents of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the operation, authorities recovered four kilograms of explosive material, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and three Kalashnikov rifles from their possession. Officials said the suspects allegedly planned to carry out terrorist activities in the Sahiwal and Okara districts. The CTD launched the operation after receiving intelligence about their alleged activities and detained both suspects before they could execute their plans. The department has started further investigations to determine the suspects’ alleged links, identify their network, and establish whether they had planned attacks on specific targets in the region.

    Four injured after house roof collapses in Lahore

    Four members of the same family were injured after the roof of a house collapsed in Lahore’s Shalimar area on Sunday. Rescue teams responded quickly to the incident, rescuing the victims from the debris and transporting them to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The accident occurred in Pathan Colony, located near Ghausia Chowk on Shalimar Road. According to Rescue 1122 officials, emergency responders reached the scene shortly after receiving reports of the collapse. Rescue personnel carried out a search operation, safely removing the injured individuals from beneath the rubble before shifting them to hospitals. Authorities said the house had a traditional roof made of mud and T-R girders, which collapsed unexpectedly. The exact cause of the incident has not yet been confirmed, and officials are expected to investigate whether the collapse was caused by structural weakness, aging construction, or other factors. The injured victims have been identified as three-year-old Rajab, 35-year-old Zainab, 35-year-old Shahid, and 20-year-old Mujahid. Rescue 1122 confirmed that all four belong to the same family. Two of the injured were taken to Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital for treatment, while the remaining victims also received immediate medical care. Fortunately, rescue officials stated that all four injured individuals are in stable condition and are out of danger. Medical staff continue to monitor their recovery, and no fatalities have been reported. After completing a thorough search of the damaged building, Rescue 1122 confirmed that no additional people were trapped under the debris. The rescue operation was officially concluded once authorities ensured the site was clear. Building collapses remain a concern in parts of Pakistan where older structures and traditional construction methods are still common. Experts have frequently emphasized the importance of regular structural inspections and timely maintenance, particularly for buildings constructed with aging materials. They also encourage homeowners to seek professional assessments if signs of cracks, weakened roofs, or structural damage become visible. The latest incident highlights the importance of emergency preparedness and the rapid response of rescue services. Prompt action by Rescue 1122 helped prevent further casualties and ensured that the injured received immediate medical attention.     ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal has renewed his call for the creation of new provinces in Pakistan, arguing that the country’s existing administrative structure is no longer adequate to serve its rapidly growing population. Speaking at the Pakistan Pharma Healthcare Expo, Kamal said debates over provincial boundaries were often framed as matters of honour and pride, but questioned why the same concern was not shown when children lost their lives after falling into open sewerage drains. He argued that Pakistan’s four provinces cover vast territories and that smaller administrative units could improve governance and ensure that public funds reach local communities more effectively. Kamal said the federal government distributes Rs8,884 billion annually among the provinces, but questioned the lack of an effective mechanism to ensure that funds reach union councils and communities at the grassroots level. He noted that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are larger in area than many countries, while Sindh and Balochistan also cover territories exceeding those of numerous states around the world. According to him, Pakistan’s population has grown dramatically since the country had only around 37 million people, yet the number of provinces has remained unchanged. The minister cited countries such as Sri Lanka, Iran and India as examples of states with more administrative units, arguing that the creation of additional provinces would not weaken Pakistan but could instead strengthen the federation. Kamal also linked administrative shortcomings to growing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where security personnel continue to lose their lives. He said Pakistan needed fundamental reforms to address the causes behind instability and improve governance. Turning to the issue of public infrastructure, the minister questioned the political focus on provincial identity when basic safety measures such as covering open sewer lines remain neglected. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif works long hours and has extensive experience in provincial administration, but added that the federal government alone could not solve every local governance problem. The priority, he said, should be to strengthen the system rather than rely on individual interventions for issues such as sewer covers. Kamal urged all political parties to sit together and find a constitutional solution to the country’s administrative and governance challenges, saying meaningful reforms were needed to ensure public resources translated into better services and safer communities.

    Maryam slams PPP over AJK election rigging claims

    Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of adopting double standards over election results, saying the party did not allege rigging when it won in Gilgit-Baltistan but raised accusations of electoral fraud after losing in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Addressing a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary party in AJK, Maryam Nawaz said the PML-N had secured victory in the AJK elections, describing the result as a wise decision by the people despite difficult circumstances. She said the people of AJK had defeated violence, unrest, bloodshed, protests and strikes through the power of their vote. According to her, certain elements wanted to create conflict between Pakistan and AJK, but the election result was a major setback for them. Maryam said the people of AJK knew what they wanted and were aware of the development work being carried out in the federal government and Punjab. She maintained that voters had chosen development and progress over confrontation and instability. The Punjab chief minister said the election was not the biggest test for the PML-N, adding that the real test had now begun. She said her party had faced numerous conspiracies and challenges, while its leaders had also gone through difficult phases. “We have to start working from day one and should not spend time enjoying protocols and invitations,” she said. Referring to the 2021 AJK elections, Maryam said the PML-N had won 17 seats while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had secured three seats. She said immediate work would begin for AJK once the government was formed, stressing that the new administration should focus on public welfare and development. Maryam Nawaz also described PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif as the founder of modern Pakistan, saying the party would continue its efforts to promote development and progress.

    An important meeting regarding the ML-1 project was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Pakistan Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah. International design consultants, review consultants, and senior officers of Pakistan Railways attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed in detail various matters related to the upgradation of the Karachi-Rohri section. Discussions were also held on the project’s preparation, progress, and future course of action. Chairman Pakistan Railways directed that the review phase of the ML-1 project be completed by October 30, 2026. He also directed that the progress of the project be continuously monitored and reviewed on a weekly basis. It was decided that the second phase of market consultation for the ML-1 project will commence on September 8, 2026. The second phase will include detailed consultations with market experts and relevant stakeholders on project preparation, technical matters, and the way forward. Pakistan Railways will benefit from market proposals, international experience, and expert opinions to make the ML-1 project more effective, modern, and viable. The principles of merit, transparency, and competitiveness will be ensured at every stage of the project’s preparation and implementation. Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi expressed satisfaction over the progress on the ML-1 project and said that ML-1 is the foundation for the development and modernization of Pakistan Railways and for meeting future requirements. The upgradation of the project will significantly improve train speeds, passenger facilities, and the overall performance of Pakistan Railways. The Federal Minister said that the ML-1 project would be further strengthened and made more effective in light of the best proposals and expert opinions. He emphasized that merit, transparency, and competitiveness are of fundamental importance to the project and that there would be no compromise on these principles. Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is taking a keen interest in the ML-1 project and has directed that it be completed within the stipulated timeframe. The Prime Minister is also continuously monitoring progress on the project. The Federal Minister for Railways said that, in view of the progress made so far, the prospects for the commencement of Pakistan Railways’ flagship ML-1 project this year are bright. The government is taking all necessary measures to make ML-1 the foundation of a modern, safe, high-speed, and efficient railway system in the country.
