Meghan Markle shares Prince Harry’s inspirational advice

Meghan Markle has shared a heartfelt piece of advice from Prince Harry that she says has helped her navigate some of life’s most difficult moments. The Duchess of Sussex revealed the personal story while attending a special screening of Cookie Queen a documentary celebrating the achievements of Girl Scouts, in  Los Angeles.

The event marked Meghan’s first public appearance since returning from her recent visit to the United Kingdom. She and Prince Harry served as executive producers of the documentary, highlighting their continued support for projects that promote youth empowerment and community leadership. During the screening, Meghan participated in a question-and-answer session alongside the film’s producer, Alysa Nahmias, where she spoke about resilience, optimism, and overcoming challenges.

During the discussion, Meghan was asked how she copes with difficult periods in life. In response, she recalled a memorable piece of advice Prince Harry shared with her years ago, inspired by his decade of service as a helicopter pilot in the British Army.

Meghan explained that Harry often reminded her to maintain perspective during challenging times. Recalling his words, she said he once told her, “My love, even if there’s a storm happening, above the storm, the sun’s always shining.” She added that the message has stayed with her because it encourages people to step back from immediate difficulties and remember that better days lie ahead.

According to Meghan, the quote reflects the wisdom Harry gained during his military career, where he learned to remain calm and focused despite demanding situations. She said the advice serves as a reminder that hardships are temporary and that maintaining a broader perspective can help people face adversity with greater strength and hope.

The audience responded warmly to Meghan’s remarks, which offered a glimpse into the couple’s private conversations and the support they provide one another. Her comments emphasized the importance of resilience, optimism, and finding encouragement from loved ones during life’s uncertainties.

Following the event, Meghan shared several photographs from the screening on social media. The images included moments with Girl Scouts who attended the event, reflecting her continued involvement in initiatives focused on young people, leadership, and community service.

The Los Angeles appearance came shortly after Meghan offered followers a look at her family’s recent trip to the United Kingdom. During that visit, she, Prince Harry, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, visited Althorp, the Spencer family estate where Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, is buried.

The visit to Althorp held personal significance for the family, as it allowed Archie and Lilibet to connect with an important part of their family’s history. Meghan shared moments from the trip, highlighting the family’s time together during their stay in Britain.

The visit also attracted considerable public attention because Harry and Meghan reportedly introduced their children to King Charles during the trip. It marked the first time in four years that Archie and Lilibet had visited their grandfather at his country residence.

Before this visit, the children had last been in the United Kingdom during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Their recent return was viewed as a meaningful family reunion and generated widespread interest among royal watchers.

Meghan’s latest public appearance and personal reflections offered a rare insight into her relationship with Prince Harry, while also highlighting the values of perseverance, hope, and family that continue to shape their public and private lives.

Ranjhan Yaar: Reclaiming Waris Shah’s Philosophy of Power and Resistance

By Tallat Naveed Ranjhan Yaar is an original Punjabi play by the eminent philosopher, historian, literary critic, poet, translator, and scholar Dr. Manzur Ejaz, whose profound understanding of Waris Shah’s Heer has earned him recognition as one of the most insightful interpreters of Punjab’s literary heritage. The play was written at the request of the Global Arts drama group, whose objective was not to stage another dramatic adaptation of a familiar folk romance. Instead, they envisioned a theatrical work that would unveil the philosophical and anthropological essence of Waris Shah’s Heer. Accepting this challenge, Dr. Manzur Ejaz produced a play that moves beyond the conventional narrative of romantic love to explore the deeper realities of power, social hierarchy, human dignity, and the contradictions of the feudal order. Rooted in the author’s extensive study of Waris Shah, ‘Ranjhan Yaar’ offers an original and intellectually engaging interpretation of one of Punjab’s greatest literary masterpieces. The play was later performed in Washington, D.C., where it received widespread appreciation for its literary depth, philosophical insight, and compelling dramatic structure. Rather than merely retelling a timeless legend, ‘Ranjhan Yaar’ invites its audience to rediscover Waris Shah’s vision as a profound reflection on society, justice, and the enduring struggle between power and humanity oppressed. Rather than celebrating romance alone, the play unveils the enduring conflict between the feudal ruling class and the dispossessed, revealing how social and economic power shapes human relationships and destinies. Dr. Manzur Ejaz displays remarkable dramatic artistry in ‘Ranjhan Yaar’ by transforming a familiar folk narrative into a philosophical and socially conscious play. The plot is tightly structured, with each scene advancing both the dramatic action and the central ideological conflict. His characters transcend individual identities to embody opposing social forces, lending the play symbolic depth. The dialogue is concise, intellectually engaging, and dramatically effective, revealing character while exposing the contradictions of the feudal order. In its fusion of social criticism and philosophical discourse, the play recalls the dramatic technique of George Bernard Shaw, whose theatre employs dialogue as a medium for intellectual debate. Through its structural coherence and thematic depth, ‘Ranjhan Yaar’ firmly establishes Dr. Manzur Ejaz as a playwright of remarkable literary vision He subverts the conventional hierarchy of folk drama by assigning intellectual and moral authority to the marginalised rather than the feudal elite. Characters such as Rangu, Elmu, and Jammu emerge as the true custodians of wisdom, while Heer’s companions Noori and her maid Rano collectively reinforce the play’s philosophy of resistance against class oppression and feudal hegemony. Heer is transformed into a symbol of resilience and moral defiance, and Ranjha into an embodiment of unwavering devotion and human dignity. Consequently, ‘Ranjhan Yaar’ transcends the limits of a romantic folk tale, evolving into a powerful dramatic critique of class hierarchy, caste prejudice, religious exploitation and the moral bankruptcy of the feudal order. The friendship between Dhedhu (Ranjha) and Rangu dissolves the artificial boundaries of class, affirming that humanity is measured not by birth but by conscience. Even more striking is the contrast between Malki, the wife of the feudal lord Chuchak, and Rano, Heer’s humble maid. Bound by the chains of privilege, she lacks the courage to defend her own daughter, while Rano, though socially insignificant, rises as the moral conscience of the play by standing fearlessly beside Heer. In this profound inversion of power, Dr. Manzur Ejaz revives Waris Shah’s enduring philosophy: society is governed by socio-economic injustice, where class interests eclipse blood relations, justice, and ethical values. This vision closely echoes the Marxist critique of feudal hegemony. Consequently, Heer and Ranjha cease to be merely legendary lovers; they become symbols of equality, human dignity, and resistance, whose tragic end exposes a social order that annihilates every voice raised against oppression. As Rangu reminds us in the closing movement of the play, ایهه سماج چود ہریاں مھراں دا سماج ، ھیراں رانجھیاں نوں اپنے اندر سمو نہیں سکدا جے کر اندر سمون دا جتن کرے آپ پاٹ جاۓ. A society founded upon privilege, caste, and feudal power can never become a sanctuary for truth, love, or justice. Its very structure demands the destruction of those who dare to challenge its authority. Heer and Ranjha are therefore not defeated because they loved; they are sacrificed because they embody equality, integrity, and the freedom of the human spirit. Yet, while the feudal order succeeds in silencing their bodies, it fails to extinguish their ideals. The moral courage of Rangu, Elmu, Jammu, Noori, Dena, and Rano survives as an enduring voice of conscience against oppression. In this lies the enduring greatness of ‘Ranjhan Yaar.’ Dr. Sahib restores Waris Shah’s Heer to its true philosophical stature—not as a romantic legend, but as a profound documentation of power, class hierarchy, and human resistance. The play reminds us that oppressive systems may eliminate individuals, but they can never annihilate the truth they represent. That is why Heer and Ranjha continue to live—not as lovers imprisoned in folklore, but as timeless. More than a reinterpretation of Waris Shah’s Heer, ‘Ranjhan Yaar’ holds a mirror to the society we continue to inhabit. Its critique of class privilege, feudal authority, religious exploitation, and socio-economic injustice remains profoundly relevant. It is an essential read for anyone who seeks to understand that Heer is not merely a love story, but a timeless philosophy of power, resistance, and human dignity. A compelling and indispensable read for every serious student of Punjabi literature. Name of book:Rajhan Yaar Author: Manzur Ejaz Published: Kitab Trinjan, Lahore. Tallat Naveed is Lahore based poetess and literary Analyst.

Qudsia Ali, Abbas Ashraf on unhealthy gender dynamics

Pakistani dramas have long been a mirror to the society they come from, and Aik Mohabbat Aur is doing exactly that. The ongoing drama, in which Qudsia Ali plays Maham and Abbas Ashraf Awan plays Faris, explores the painful reality of marriages where women find themselves trapped with narcissistic partners. In a candid conversation with Fuchsia Magazine, the two actors stepped out of their fictional roles and spoke plainly about the dynamics they believe are damaging real relationships in Pakistan today. Abbas Ashraf was direct about where he believes the problem begins, and it is not with men themselves but with how they are raised. He said the narcissistic complex in men is a product of parenting, specifically the way sons are conditioned from childhood to feel superior to everyone around them. Parents, he argued, tell their sons they are the inheritors, the ones who matter, the ones who carry the family forward, while daughters are quietly assigned a lesser place. That imbalance, repeated across generations, plants the seeds of the entitlement and control that later destroys marriages. His prescription was as straightforward as his diagnosis. “Make both your sons and daughters feel equal if you want to stop your sons from becoming negative narcissists,” he said. It is a simple idea that carries enormous weight precisely because of how rarely it is practised. Qudsia Ali brought a different but equally sharp perspective to the same conversation, turning her focus toward the women who stay in difficult marriages long past the point of reason. Her explanation was rooted not in weakness but in a specific emotional wound. She said that many women are deprived of parental love from the very beginning of their lives. When they finally encounter even a fragment of affection from a partner, however temporary or conditional it may be, they hold on to it with everything they have because they have never known anything different. “Women are deprived of parental love and when they get even a glimpse of love, they lie down and take everything,” she said. “They take even a temporary love as they are extremely insecure.” The image is striking and uncomfortably accurate for anyone who has watched a woman accept treatment that from the outside looks impossible to justify. Qudsia did not offer this observation from a distance. She acknowledged that she herself had carried insecurities of her own, and that she had done the work to understand and overcome them. It was a moment of personal honesty that gave her words additional weight. Together, their observations form a connected picture of how the same system of unequal parenting produces both the men who expect everything and the women who accept anything. The drama they are appearing in explores exactly this territory on screen. But in this conversation, they chose to name it plainly off screen too, and that directness is what has made their remarks resonate beyond the usual boundaries of a promotional interview.

Liberty Chowk celebrations descend into chaos

Independence Day celebrations at Liberty Chowk in Lahore took an unexpected turn after a large crowd became involved in disorderly behaviour following an organised event on Thursday night. The Punjab government had arranged a special programme at Liberty Chowk to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day. The venue was decorated with lights and other patriotic arrangements, while professional artists were invited to entertain the public. The official celebrations were held as planned, with people gathering at the iconic Lahore location to mark August 14. However, scenes changed after the formal programme ended. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show a large crowd behaving aggressively at the venue. The footage showed people climbing and swinging on structures at the site. Some individuals were also seen throwing bottles and getting involved in physical confrontations. The gathering appeared to consist largely of young men, while women and families were not prominent in the crowd shown in the videos. The scenes quickly attracted criticism online. Many social media users expressed disappointment over the behaviour and questioned whether such actions were appropriate during a national celebration. One user criticised the crowd for behaving like a mob rather than a united nation. Another argued that the country needed a stronger sense of civic responsibility. Others said the incident was unfortunate and pointed to the need for citizens to take responsibility instead of blaming authorities and institutions for every problem. The videos sparked a wider discussion about how public celebrations should be conducted. Independence Day events are traditionally associated with patriotism, national unity and respect for public spaces. The incident at Liberty Chowk highlighted the contrast between the carefully organised official celebrations and the disorder that reportedly followed among sections of the crowd.
