Ariana Grande’s Petal visuals ignite concern over her health

The release of Ariana Grande’s latest music video for the title track of her new album, Petal, has sparked an emotional conversation online, with fans praising its powerful message while also expressing deep concern over the singer’s appearance.

The music video, which explores themes of identity, self-acceptance and breaking free from constant public judgment, portrays Grande as someone living under relentless scrutiny. Throughout the visuals, she reflects on the pressure of meeting expectations from critics, the media and even her own fans.

While many viewers connected with the emotional storytelling and vulnerable lyrics, one particular scene quickly became the focus of widespread discussion. Several fans pointed to close-up shots in which Grande appeared noticeably thinner than before, saying the visuals were difficult to watch. Instead of discussing the song’s message, social media users began debating the singer’s physical health and wellbeing.

The reaction quickly spread across platforms, with thousands of fans posting messages urging the pop star to prioritize her health and take care of herself. Many expressed sadness rather than criticism, saying they hoped Grande was surrounded by people who genuinely supported her.

The conversation soon extended beyond fans, with celebrities also sharing their concerns. Actress and activist Jameela Jamil publicly reacted to the music video, saying she was worried about Grande’s wellbeing and questioned whether the imagery should have been presented in that way. Model and body positivity advocate Charli Howard also commented on the visuals, posting a clip from the video on social media alongside a lengthy message discussing body image, public pressure and the responsibility of the entertainment industry.

The intense online discussion surrounding Grande’s appearance eventually coincided with another major announcement. The singer confirmed that she plans to step away from the public spotlight after completing her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour.

According to a statement released by her representative, Grande will take a break from public appearances once the tour concludes. The statement explained that she wants to finish the tour on a positive note before enjoying a well-earned period away from constant public attention.

Her representative also noted that the singer has cherished every moment of performing for fans during the tour but has endured years of continuous public scrutiny. The upcoming hiatus is intended to allow her time to rest and focus on herself after completing her professional commitments.

The announcement received mixed reactions online. Many fans applauded Grande’s decision, calling it a necessary step after years of intense media attention and demanding work schedules. Others continued speculating about her health, asking whether there was an underlying reason behind her noticeably slimmer appearance.

Grande has long been recognized for her petite frame and youthful appearance. However, many fans believe her weight has changed significantly over the past few years. Public discussion around her appearance became especially prominent during the filming and promotional campaign for Wicked: For Good, with social media users frequently commenting on her body.

Those conversations often fueled online speculation, with some people attempting to link her appearance to different aspects of her personal or professional life. However, none of those claims have been confirmed, and Grande herself has not publicly explained the reason for any changes in her weight.

As a result, numerous theories have circulated online, including speculation about the pressures faced by performers in the entertainment industry. Still, there is no verified evidence supporting these claims, and any assumptions about Grande’s health remain unconfirmed.

Despite the concern surrounding her recent appearance and temporary break from public life, Grande’s career continues to move forward. Fans can next see the Grammy-winning singer on the big screen in Focker-in-Law, where she stars alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller. The highly anticipated comedy is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 25, 2026.

For now, many of Grande’s supporters hope her planned hiatus will provide the privacy and rest she has requested, while allowing attention to eventually return to the music and message behind Petal rather than ongoing speculation about her personal health.

    Jamaat-e-Islami announces nationwide protest again…

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman has announced a nationwide protest against the petroleum levy on Friday, August 7, urging citizens across Pakistan to participate in what he described as a decisive demonstration against rising fuel taxes and worsening economic conditions. According to a statement issued from the party’s headquarters in Mansoorah, preparations for the nationwide campaign have entered their final phase. Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and workers are actively engaging with communities through corner meetings, public awareness campaigns, and outreach efforts aimed at mobilizing citizens for the protest. Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman said the demonstrations are not driven by political interests but are intended to represent the concerns of ordinary Pakistanis struggling with inflation, unemployment, and what he called an unbearable tax burden. He maintained that the movement seeks economic relief for the public rather than political gain. The JI chief announced that he will address a women’s protest rally on August 6 at Wahdat Road in Lahore, organized by the party’s women’s wing. He said women would also raise their voices against government economic policies and support the campaign demanding relief from rising living costs. Appealing directly to the country’s youth, Hafiz Naeem urged motorcyclists to join the demonstrations on August 7 and participate peacefully. He stated that protesters would stage sit-ins on major highways and temporarily block roads connecting districts to press the government to address public demands. However, he emphasized that emergency vehicles, including ambulances and rescue services, would be allowed to pass without obstruction. The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also warned the government against interfering with citizens’ constitutional and democratic right to peaceful protest. He said any attempt to suppress the demonstrations would be the responsibility of the authorities. Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman called on the government to immediately abolish the petroleum levy, review expensive agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), eliminate electricity load-shedding, and implement effective measures to control inflation. He added that the party’s peaceful protest movement would continue until what he described as unjust economic policies are reversed. The planned demonstrations are expected to take place across multiple cities and districts, making them one of Jamaat-e-Islami’s largest nationwide protest campaigns focused on economic issues and public relief in recent months.

JI seeks Rs1 billion damages from former FBR chief

KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has served a legal notice on former Federal Board of Revenue chairman Shabbar Zaidi. The party is seeking Rs1 billion in damages over remarks it says harmed its reputation. The notice relates to allegations made by Zaidi about the political party and its role in public protests. JI said the former FBR chief made the remarks during a podcast and later repeated them on different social media platforms. According to the party, the notice was issued on July 27 through Advocate Tahir Iqbal Malik. It was sent on the instructions of JI Karachi General Secretary Taufiquddin Siddiqui. JI has accused Zaidi of making serious and damaging claims. The party says the allegations suggested that it had received money to weaken or suppress public protests and political issues. The party also objected to comments in which Zaidi allegedly described JI as an “establishment firewall”. According to JI, the remarks created an impression that the party was working to dilute public concerns and protests. The legal notice claims that the statements included allegations of secret funding, bribery, corruption and political misconduct. It also alleges that the remarks suggested coordination between the party and state institutions. JI has demanded that Zaidi provide evidence to support his claims. The party has asked him to identify the person who allegedly made the payment and the individual who supposedly received it. The notice also seeks details about the alleged amount, including when and where the payment was made. JI has asked for information about the method of payment and any bank records or financial documents linked to the allegation. The party has further demanded evidence concerning the alleged protest or public issue. It has asked for the names of witnesses and any documents, recordings or other material that could support the claims. JI also wants Zaidi to disclose the source of the information on which his allegations were based. The party has said the claims should be backed by verifiable evidence. When approached for a response, Zaidi said he had forwarded the legal notice to his lawyer. He said he would seek legal advice on the matter. The dispute could now move into a legal phase if the former FBR chairman does not respond to the notice in the manner demanded by the party.

Pakistan crashes out of World Junior Squash Championship

Pakistan’s hopes of securing an individual title at the World Junior Squash Championships came to an end after all four of its players were eliminated from the tournament, with Nauman Khan becoming the last Pakistani to exit following a straight-games defeat to Egypt’s top seed and defending champion Mohamed Zakaria. The 12-day championship, currently underway in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, saw Nauman face one of the tournament’s toughest opponents in the pre-quarterfinals. Zakaria displayed his class from the opening game, comfortably defeating the Pakistani youngster 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 to book his place in the quarterfinals. Nauman had carried Pakistan’s final hopes in the individual competition after progressing further than his teammates, but the Egyptian star’s experience and attacking game proved too strong on the day. Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan’s Mohammad Umair Arif, Yahya Khan, and Abdullah Nawaz were all knocked out in the Round of 32, leaving Nauman as the country’s lone remaining contender. His defeat officially ended Pakistan’s campaign in the individual event without a player reaching the medal rounds. Egypt once again underlined its dominance in world junior squash, with defending champion Zakaria continuing his title defense in impressive fashion. The youngster controlled every stage of the match, forcing errors from Nauman and maintaining his unbeaten run in the competition. Although the individual event has ended in disappointment for Pakistan, attention now shifts to the team competition, which is scheduled to begin on July 26. The team event offers Pakistan another opportunity to make an impact on the international stage and restore confidence after a difficult singles campaign. Coaches are expected to regroup the squad and focus on collective performances as the tournament enters its next phase. Pakistan has a proud history in world squash, having produced legendary champions who once dominated the sport. While recent years have brought challenges at the international level, the country’s young players continue to gain valuable exposure by competing against the world’s best juniors. The upcoming team event will provide another chance for Pakistan’s rising talents to test themselves against leading squash nations and finish the championship on a stronger note after an early exit from the individual competition.
