Beneath Our Tide exhibition opens in Pak Nam Pran
The Beneath Our Tide exhibition has opened at Hitch and Round Cafe and Space in Pak Nam Pran, showcasing a striking collection of marine life prints created through the traditional Japanese art of Gyotaku.
The solo exhibition by artist Jaturun Rungruengsaowapak opened on Saturday, 13 June 2026, in Pran Buri district, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Gyotaku is a form of direct fish printing that was first used in Japan to record catches. In this exhibition, Jaturun uses natural squid ink to capture the shape, texture and fine details of marine life on handmade mulberry paper crafted by Thai artisans.

The exhibition presents life beneath the sea through two main series.
The first, Movement of Common Species, focuses on marine life commonly found in Thai waters. Works in this series include Mackerel Tuna on Shoal of Squid, Batfish and Mussel Farm, and School of Anchovies.
The second series, *Rare and Extraordinary Specimens*, features unusual and rarely seen marine species from Thai waters, including a two-metre oarfish, a male black sea devil and a sharpnose sevengill shark.
Almost all works in the **Beneath Our Tide exhibition** are original, one-of-a-kind pieces and have not been shown publicly before. The exhibition gives visitors the chance to view the artworks up close for the first time.
