PESHAWAR: The Directorate of Youth Affairs, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has launched the “Ikhtiyar Awam Ka” Complaint Cell across all districts of the province, providing citizens with a dedicated platform to register complaints, submit suggestions and seek information regarding youth-related services through their respective District Youth Offices.

The initiative has been introduced to promote transparency, accountability and effective public engagement while ensuring timely redressal of complaints related to youth affairs and government services.

Director Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abbas Khan Afridi said the establishment of the complaint cell reflects the government’s commitment to responsive governance and citizen-centric service delivery.

“The Directorate of Youth Affairs is committed to ensuring that every citizen has direct access to our services. The ‘Ikhtiyar Awam Ka’ Complaint Cell will strengthen communication between the public and the Directorate, enabling us to address complaints promptly and improve the quality of services through public feedback,” Mr Afridi said.

He said citizens from every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could contact their respective District Youth Offices through the designated helpline numbers to register complaints, report issues, share recommendations and obtain information about youth development programmes.

Mr Afridi added that every complaint received through the complaint cell would be handled with transparency, responsibility and within a defined timeframe to ensure accountability and public confidence.

The complaint cell has been established in all district youth offices across Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Malakand, Chitral Upper, Chitral Lower, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, North Waziristan, South Waziristan Upper, South Waziristan Lower, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Karak, Kohat, Hangu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas Kohistan, where citizens can connect through the officially designated helplines.

Officials said the initiative would strengthen public trust, improve institutional accountability and ensure efficient delivery of youth-related services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also condemned the reported attack and called on the United Nations, the European Union, and the international community to take action. During a phone conversation with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Araghchi urged international bodies to hold those responsible for the incident accountable. The reported confrontation has added another layer of complexity to ongoing international tensions, with both sides facing calls to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

    Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has said construction of a 480-kilometre railway track from Karachi to Rohri will begin next year. He made the remarks during a meeting with Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, where Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State Kheial Das Kohistani, Fahad Haroon and other officials were also present. During the meeting, Abbasi said Pakistan Railways would soon begin transporting fuel, automobiles, minerals and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) through its network. He said around 11,000 tonnes of coal was currently being transported from Thar to the national grid every day. Abbasi also remarked that only two or three countries could be considered Pakistan’s enemies. The Sindh governor praised the government for ensuring uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products despite the ongoing challenges. Hashmi particularly appreciated the measures taken by Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to maintain the supply of fuel across the country. Ali Pervaiz Malik said stakeholders had extended full cooperation to ensure the uninterrupted availability of petroleum products. The meeting also discussed measures to strengthen transportation and logistics infrastructure and improve coordination between relevant federal and provincial authorities.

    LAHORE:The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has announced the first merit list for its undergraduate admissions, following a strong response from students seeking admission to the university’s various degree programmes. According to data shared by the university administration, UET Lahore received 21,066 applications for undergraduate programmes this year. The applicants also submitted 288,166 programme preferences, highlighting the intense competition among students and the growing demand for engineering and other undergraduate programmes offered by the university. The release of the first merit list marks the beginning of the admission process for the new academic session. Students who applied for admission can now check their selection status and review the details of the admission process through the university’s official admissions portal. UET Lahore has also announced the schedule for the upcoming merit lists. The university will publish the second merit list on August 7, followed by the third merit list on August 14. The fourth merit list will be announced on August 21. The university has advised applicants to regularly check the official admission platform for updates regarding merit lists, fee submission, admission confirmation and other important requirements. Students selected in the merit lists must complete the required admission formalities within the specified deadlines to secure their places in their respective programmes. Meanwhile, UET Lahore plans to begin regular classes for all selected undergraduate students on September 7. The start of the academic session will follow the completion of the admission process and the finalization of student selections. With more than 21,000 applicants competing for admission, the latest figures reflect the continued popularity of UET Lahore among students pursuing higher education in engineering and related disciplines.
