England name 16-man squad for first two Tests against Pakistan

England have unveiled their 16-member squad for the first two Tests of their three-match series against Pakistan, with Joe Root set to lead the side after Ben Stokes’ retirement.

The first Test will begin on August 19 at Headingley in Leeds, marking the start of what promises to be a closely watched series between the two sides.

Root has been handed the captaincy once again following Stokes’ retirement, placing the experienced batter at the centre of England’s plans against Pakistan.

England have also welcomed back several familiar faces. Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Brydon Carse and Sam Cook have returned to the squad, adding experience and depth to the team.

However, England will be without Jacob Bethell, who has been ruled out of the Pakistan series because of a right knee injury.

With Root back in charge and several key players returning, England will look to make a strong start at Leeds before the teams move on to the second Test.

Pakistan will be hoping to challenge England’s home advantage and seize an early lead in the three-match contest.

HIV-positive children in Pakistan reach 7,500

The number of children living with HIV in Pakistan has risen to approximately 7,500, according to the latest figures released by the federal Ministry of Health. The data highlights the growing need for improved healthcare, nutrition, and long-term support for affected children across the country. Official statistics show that around 62,000 HIV patients are currently receiving treatment in Pakistan. Children account for nearly 12 percent of all registered patients, reflecting the significant impact of the disease on younger age groups. According to the ministry, Sindh has emerged as the province with the highest number of HIV-positive children. Nearly 4,200 children infected with the virus have been registered in the province, making it the country’s largest concentration of pediatric HIV cases. In response to the situation, the federal government has sought nutritional assistance from UNICEF, the World Food Programme (WFP), the World Health Organization (WHO), and Nutrition International. The support is aimed at improving the health and nutritional status of children living with HIV. Authorities said a special program has been planned to provide nutritional supplements to HIV-positive children. Those suffering from severe malnutrition will receive therapeutic food along with continuous medical monitoring to improve their overall health and treatment outcomes. The government also plans to provide guidance to parents and caregivers on meeting the nutritional needs of children living with HIV. Health experts believe that proper nutrition plays a critical role in strengthening immunity and supporting the effectiveness of treatment. Medical experts said children infected with HIV require 10 to 20 percent more energy and protein than healthy children of the same age. They stressed that addressing malnutrition can significantly improve recovery, enhance the effectiveness of treatment, and help HIV-positive children lead healthier lives.

Jason Kelce says one detail made Taylor Swift and …

Jason Kelce has shared fresh details about his brother Travis Kelce’s wedding to Taylor Swift, revealing the one aspect of the ceremony that left him genuinely amazed. The former Philadelphia Eagles star spoke candidly during a radio interview about the couple’s lavish yet remarkably private wedding, describing it as an unforgettable celebration despite the immense public interest surrounding the pair. According to Jason, the most remarkable part of the wedding was not the celebrity guest list or the grand venue—it was the fact that almost no legitimate photos from the ceremony have surfaced online. Considering Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are among the world’s most recognizable celebrities, Jason admitted he never expected the event to remain so private. “I haven’t seen one real photo,” Jason said, adding that he was genuinely surprised by how successfully the couple managed to protect their special day from leaks. He praised everyone involved for respecting the newlyweds’ privacy, calling the achievement “remarkable.”  The wedding reportedly took place earlier this month at Madison Square Garden, where around 1,000 guests gathered to celebrate the couple. Despite the scale of the event and the presence of numerous high-profile celebrities, attendees largely honored the couple’s request to keep the ceremony intimate and away from the public eye. Jason said creating a secure and personal atmosphere was clearly a priority for Taylor and Travis, and he believes they accomplished exactly that.  Jason also reflected on the emotional side of the celebration. Serving as his brother’s best man, he admitted that he probably cried more during Travis’ wedding than he did at his own, joking that his wife, Kylie Kelce, might not appreciate hearing that. He described the ceremony as “more than a 10 out of 10” and said seeing his brother so happy made the occasion even more meaningful.  The wedding reportedly featured a star-studded guest list, heartfelt vows and a ceremony that balanced elegance with warmth. While many details remain under wraps, Jason’s comments suggest the privacy surrounding the event may ultimately become one of its defining features. In an era where celebrity moments often appear online within minutes, Taylor and Travis managed to keep one of the biggest weddings of the year almost entirely out of the public eye.  For Jason, that accomplishment is what made the celebration truly special. Rather than becoming another viral spectacle, the wedding remained exactly what the couple intended—a deeply personal moment shared with family and close friends.
