Hua Hin discusses new public transport routes to meet growing demand
Hua Hin City Municipality has begun discussions on new public transport routes as part of efforts to improve mobility and meet rising demand in the growing coastal city.
On 2 April, Nopporn Wutthikul, Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, chaired a meeting focused on adjustments to existing services and the development of additional public transport routes. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from across the public and private sectors.
Among those in attendance were Deputy Mayor Sanphop Ungrasamee, Municipal Clerk Jirawat Phrommanee, Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Transport Officer Sutthip Tanprasert, and Kitipong Siriphetkasem, president of the Hua Hin–Cha-am Tourism Business Association, along with representatives of local transport operators.
Expansion of public transport routes in Hua Hin
Hua Hin has seen steady growth in recent years, driven by tourism, economic activity, and urban expansion. This has led to increased demand for more efficient and accessible public transport routes to support both residents and visitors.
City officials said the proposed expansion of public transport routes aims to improve connectivity, particularly in areas beyond the main urban centre. The plans are expected to make travel more convenient, reduce traffic congestion, and support continued development across the district.
As part of the next steps, authorities will carry out surveys and feasibility studies to assess the suitability of potential routes. A formal proposal will then be submitted to the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Committee for approval, in line with regulatory requirements.
A pilot phase is also planned, during which selected routes will be introduced on a trial basis. The results will be used to evaluate performance and determine whether the routes should be expanded or adjusted.
Officials said the development of new public transport routes represents a step towards strengthening Hua Hin’s infrastructure, with a focus on improving accessibility, safety, and long-term sustainability.
