Hundreds arrested in France as destructive wildfires spread across Europe

European emergency services are battling fierce wildfires triggered by a record-breaking heatwave, with French authorities arresting nearly 500 individuals on suspicion of starting blazes since July 1. France’s interior ministry reported that 474 people, including 183 minors, have been detained, with approximately 70% suspected of intentional arson. In south-west France, a rapid blaze in the Landes region consumed nearly 1,100 hectares of pine forest in under 24 hours, prompting the emergency evacuation of more than 525 residents from the village of Luglon.

The severe weather conditions have caused destruction and displacement across multiple European countries. In Croatia, a gale-driven wildfire swept through the coastal tourist town of Lokva Rogoznica, leaving one person dead, 40 injured, and forcing 1,200 people to evacuate to emergency shelters. In western Germany, over 2,000 residents fled the village of Gey as a forest fire advanced, while emergency crews faced additional hazards from detonating Second World War ammunition buried in the terrain.

Elsewhere on the continent, military personnel in north-east Spain evacuated the historical remains of three 11th-century kings from the San Juan de la Peña monastery as flames threatened the site. In northern Greece, a fleet of small boats rescued approximately 500 holidaymakers stranded on beaches along the Halkidiki peninsula after a two-mile fire front threatened local resorts. Firefighters in the UK also faced severe conditions, as wildfires across the West Midlands destroyed several residential properties.

Kylie Kelce opens up about difficult pregnancy fas…

Kylie Kelce is never afraid to keep it real, especially when it comes to motherhood. The podcast host recently opened up about one of the least glamorous parts of pregnancy—finding comfortable clothes—and admitted that she simply “didn’t like” most maternity fashion. During a recent episode of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, Kylie reflected on dressing through her pregnancies and explained that comfort always came before style. As the mother of four daughters, she said she quickly learned that traditional maternity clothing often failed to meet her expectations, leaving her searching for easier and more practical alternatives.  Rather than filling her wardrobe with maternity outfits, Kylie revealed that she frequently turned to her husband Jason Kelce’s oversized XXL T-shirts. The retired NFL star unknowingly became her fashion lifesaver, with his loose-fitting shirts offering the comfort she couldn’t find elsewhere. Laughing about her approach, Kylie summed up her pregnancy fashion philosophy in one simple sentence: “If it fits, you wear it.” She admitted she still borrows Jason’s shirts even after giving birth because they remain some of the most comfortable pieces in her closet.  Although Kylie owned maternity jeans, they were far from her favorite choice. She confessed that she rarely wore them because they never felt as comfortable as she had hoped. Instead, she preferred lightweight maternity dresses, explaining that they offered better airflow and were much easier to wear throughout pregnancy, particularly during warmer months.  The 33-year-old also recommended one wardrobe staple that carried her through different stages of motherhood: Lululemon Align high-rise leggings. According to Kylie, the stretchy pants worked well before, during and after pregnancy, making them one of the few items she considered a worthwhile investment.  Kylie has built a loyal following by speaking honestly about motherhood, pregnancy and postpartum life without trying to present a picture-perfect image. Whether discussing body changes, parenting challenges or everyday mishaps, she has consistently encouraged women to embrace practicality over unrealistic expectations. Earlier this year, she also spoke openly about the emotional challenges of postpartum body changes, reminding mothers that adjusting to a new body takes time and patience.  Married to former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce since 2018, Kylie often credits her husband for supporting her through every stage of parenthood. While borrowing his clothes may have started as a practical solution during pregnancy, it has become a humorous reminder of how the couple navigates family life together. Kylie’s candid reflections have resonated with countless mothers who have struggled with maternity fashion. By sharing both the frustrations and the funny moments, she continues to remind women that pregnancy isn’t about looking perfect—it’s about finding what makes you feel comfortable, confident and supported.

Shania Twain reveals the secret behind her happy m…

Shania Twain has shared the simple philosophy that has helped her build a happy and lasting marriage with husband Frédéric Thiébaud, nearly 15 years after the couple tied the knot. The country music icon recently reflected on her relationship, revealing that genuine friendship and mutual appreciation remain the foundation of their marriage. According to Twain, having a partner who supports and respects her has made all the difference. “We really like each other,” Twain said with a smile, explaining that enjoying each other’s company is one of the biggest reasons their relationship has remained strong over the years. She added that laughter, kindness and never taking one another for granted have become essential parts of their everyday life. (people.com) Twain married Swiss businessman Frédéric Thiébaud on January 1, 2011, following one of the most difficult periods of her personal life. Their romance blossomed after both experienced heartbreak involving their former spouses. Over time, the shared experience brought them closer, eventually leading to a relationship built on trust and understanding. Looking back, the singer says she feels incredibly grateful for the life they have created together. Rather than focusing on grand romantic gestures, Twain believes that showing appreciation every day is what keeps a marriage healthy. She explained that making each other laugh and remaining close friends are just as important as being romantic partners. (people.com) The five-time Grammy winner also acknowledged that every relationship requires effort. She believes successful marriages are built through patience, honest communication and choosing to support one another through life’s highs and lows. Those values, she says, have strengthened their bond with each passing year. Twain has often spoken positively about Thiébaud’s calm and dependable personality. She credits him with providing stability while encouraging her career and personal growth. Their ability to respect each other’s independence while remaining deeply connected has helped them navigate fame and the challenges that come with it. Fans have long admired the couple’s enduring relationship, especially given the difficult circumstances that first brought them together. Twain’s latest comments offer a reminder that lasting love is often rooted in everyday habits rather than dramatic declarations. As the couple approaches another wedding anniversary, Twain says she feels just as thankful as she did when they first exchanged vows. For her, the secret to a happy marriage is refreshingly simple: cherish your partner, keep laughing together and never stop being best friends.
