Katy Perry’s stage stunt goes wildly wrong

American pop star Katy Perry experienced an unexpected scare during a live concert in Malta after a planned stage stunt went off course, leaving her stranded inside a giant inflatable water bottle. Videos of the incident quickly spread across social media, attracting millions of views and sparking widespread discussion among fans.

The 41-year-old singer used the oversized inflatable prop as part of her performance. The stunt was designed to allow the audience to carry the giant inflatable over the crowd and guide it back toward the stage, where a large decorative straw had been placed as part of the performance.

However, the plan did not go as expected. Instead of moving back toward the stage, the inflatable drifted deeper into the audience. As the crowd carried the prop farther away, Perry found herself unable to return to the stage as intended.

Videos shared online showed the singer trying to keep her balance while sitting inside the inflatable bottle. As she realized she was being carried farther from the stage, she called out to fans and urged them to take her back toward the performance area.

After several minutes of confusion, concertgoers managed to change the direction of the inflatable and safely guided Perry back to the stage. She resumed her performance without any injuries and completed the concert.

Speaking about the incident later on social media, Perry laughed about the unexpected moment. She explained that she often uses the giant inflatable during her concerts to interact with fans. However, she admitted that on this occasion she had travelled much farther into the crowd than planned and briefly worried she might not be able to return to the stage.

The unusual incident quickly became one of the most talked-about moments online. Fans shared countless videos, memes and humorous posts inspired by the singer’s famous songs. Many praised Perry for remaining calm and handling the situation with a sense of humour.

At the same time, some social media users questioned the safety measures surrounding the stunt. They raised concerns about crowd control and wondered whether such a large inflatable prop should have been allowed to move through a packed audience without clearer supervision or guidance.

Tom Holland wants Peter Parker to stay a hero kids can look up to

Tom Holland believes playing Spider-Man comes with a responsibility that goes well beyond the movie theatre. The actor opened up about this at the Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, speaking to People about what the role means to him. Holland reflected on how many young fans grow up watching the franchise. He said the biggest responsibility that comes with making these films is ensuring kids always have someone worth looking up to. He was quick to clarify that this admiration is not meant for him personally, but for the character of Peter Parker himself. Holland spoke about his own connection to the character, admitting that he had looked up to Peter Parker long before he ever played him. He said the character has been a personal role model since childhood, and that feeling has only grown stronger since taking on the role. He added that he does not take this responsibility lightly, calling it something genuinely important to him. Holland is the third actor to bring Peter Parker to life on the big screen. He followed in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, both of whom played the iconic web-slinger before him. Each actor has brought a slightly different take to the role, but the character’s core values have remained largely the same across all three versions. Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially released in theatres worldwide on July 31, 2026, marking another chapter in Holland’s long run as the beloved superhero. The film arrives with high expectations from fans who have followed his journey as Peter Parker since his debut in the role years ago. For Holland, though, the appeal of the character clearly goes beyond box office numbers or franchise milestones. His comments suggest a deeper personal investment in what Spider-Man represents, especially for the younger audiences who watch these films and see a bit of themselves in Peter Parker’s journey. As the film makes its way to audiences everywhere, Holland’s reflections offer a glimpse into how seriously he takes the responsibility of playing one of pop culture’s most enduring and relatable superheroes.

Cher ordered to pay over $1 million in legal fees

Cher has been ordered to bear more than $1 million in her own legal expenses despite previously winning a long-running legal battle over music royalties linked to her former husband and musical partner, Sonny Bono. The legal dispute began in October 2021 when the legendary singer and actress filed a lawsuit against Sonny Bono’s widow, Mary Bono. Cher sought to protect her right to receive royalties from songs recorded during the successful Sonny & Cher partnership and claimed she was entitled to damages after her royalty payments were challenged. According to the lawsuit, Cher argued that her 1978 divorce settlement with Sonny Bono guaranteed her a 50% share of the royalties generated by their music catalogue. She alleged that Mary Bono had attempted to terminate those royalty rights under U.S. copyright law, depriving her of income she was legally entitled to receive. The dispute centred on whether Cher’s contractual rights established through the divorce agreement could continue despite copyright termination provisions. Cher maintained that the divorce settlement remained valid and enforceable, while Mary Bono challenged those claims. In May 2024, the court ruled in Cher’s favour on the central issue. The judge found that she was entitled to unpaid royalty payments and awarded her more than $418,000 in damages for royalties that had been withheld. Following that victory, Cher sought to recover the legal costs she had accumulated while pursuing the case. In January 2026, she filed a request asking the court to award her $1,023,605.30 in attorney’s fees. Her legal team argued that the case involved a common set of facts across multiple claims and counterclaims, making it unnecessary to separate the legal costs for each issue individually. They also contended that any work related to Mary Bono’s partially successful counterclaim represented only a minimal portion of the overall litigation. However, the judge rejected Cher’s request for attorney’s fees in a ruling issued on July 17. The court concluded that the case was fundamentally a contract dispute rather than one arising under federal copyright law. Because of that distinction, the judge determined that Cher was not entitled to recover her legal expenses from the opposing side. As a result of the ruling, Cher will have to cover more than $1 million in attorney’s fees herself, despite winning the underlying royalties dispute. Court filings also indicated that approximately $10,000 in additional legal costs was expected to be incurred for her representation. The case marks the latest chapter in a years-long legal battle involving the financial legacy of Sonny & Cher, one of the most influential entertainment duos of the 1960s and 1970s. Cher and Sonny Bono rose to international fame with a string of hit songs before expanding into television with The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, which became one of the era’s most popular variety shows. Following their divorce and the end of their professional partnership, both continued with separate careers. Sonny Bono later entered politics, serving as mayor of Palm Springs before being elected to the U.S. Congress, where he remained until his death in 1998.

10 electric buses arrive in Azad Kashmir

Ten electric buses have been delivered to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from Islamabad as part of a new public transport initiative for the region. The buses have been provided by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The initiative follows an announcement made by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif during a public gathering in Muzaffarabad. Nawaz Sharif had announced that electric buses would be provided to AJK to improve public transport facilities in the region. The arrival of the first 10 buses marks progress towards implementing that announcement. The new buses are expected to provide residents with a modern transport option. They are also aimed at improving the quality of public transportation and making daily travel more convenient for citizens. The electric buses were transported from Islamabad to Azad Kashmir. Their arrival is likely to support efforts to upgrade the region’s existing public transport system. The initiative is also significant because electric buses can help reduce dependence on conventional fuel-powered public transport. Their use can contribute to lower emissions and cleaner urban environments. The provision of the buses reflects cooperation between Punjab and the AJK administration in the transport sector. The initiative is expected to benefit commuters, particularly those who rely on public transport for work, education and other daily activities. The announcement was made during Nawaz Sharif’s address in Muzaffarabad, where he spoke about development and public welfare initiatives for Azad Kashmir. The arrival of the buses is expected to be followed by further steps to put them into service for the public. Authorities will determine their routes and operational arrangements. The initiative is being viewed as part of broader efforts to introduce modern and environmentally friendly transportation facilities in AJK.
