Major cultural festival in Hua Hin starts Monday

The Discover Si Khiri Khan festival will be held at Hua Hin Railway Station from 10–18 August, featuring concerts, exhibitions, cultural performances, community tours and more than 100 stalls.

Officially titled “Under the Royal Patronage: Discover Si Khiri Khan”, the nine-day event aims to promote the province’s history, tourist attractions and local communities.

Visitors will be able to see light and sound shows, decorative lighting and the “Next Move” exhibition, which will present stories from Prachuap Khiri Khan’s eight districts. Other activities will include musical performances and a Thai textile fashion show.

Festival highlights at Hua Hin Railway Station

The festival programme includes:

  • 10 August: Opening ceremony, with Mr Saxman and Keng Tachaya performing jazz combined with traditional Thai flute music
  • 11 August: Concert by Meentra Intira
  • 12 August: Commemorative candle-lighting ceremony, special performances, a royal volunteer activity and a concert by Mocca Garden
  • 15 August: Ceremony honouring outstanding people of Si Khiri Khan at Hua Hin Convention Centre, followed by a performance by Prae Chana
  • 16 August: Thai Textiles Are Fun to Wear” fashion show and the ninth “Threads on a Journey” event
  • 17 August: Concert by Thai rock band Kangkeng
  • 18 August: Ballroom dancing

Free community tourism trips covering four routes will also be offered on 13, 14, 17 and 18 August. Advance booking is required.

Festival aims to support local economy

Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Sittichai Sawatsan said the festival was intended to raise the province’s profile, support local businesses and increase spending by visitors.

He announced the event at Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa on 3 August, alongside Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul and representatives of provincial agencies and the State Railway of Thailand.

Admission is free throughout the festival.
