Singkhon border crossing inspected by officials
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Prachuap Khiri Khan on Friday to inspect the Singkhon Special Border Crossing Point and discuss its potential for border trade and regional cooperation.
Worapan Sriworanan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, led the delegation during the visit on 26 June 2026.
The group first attended a briefing at the Koh Lak meeting room on the fifth floor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Hall, where they met provincial officials and representatives from relevant agencies.
They were welcomed by Col Chuphong Sai-ubon, Deputy Director of the Internal Security Operations Command in Prachuap Khiri Khan, along with Chaichan Moonmak, the provincial defence officer, heads of government agencies, local administrative organisations, military and police officers.
Officials briefed on Singkhon border crossing
The visit formed part of a project to assess the potential of border trade, promote the application of royal agricultural theories, and examine how diplomatic history can be used to strengthen cooperation in different areas.
The meeting also focused on improving understanding of the historical links between Thailand and countries in East Asia, particularly in relation to diplomatic ties and regional development.
Officials said the information gathered would help support the work of civil servants and staff at the Department of East Asian Affairs by giving them a more complete understanding of the local context.
After the meeting, Worapan and the delegation travelled to the Singkhon Special Border Crossing Point to study the terrain and receive further information from agencies working in the area.
Prachuap Khiri Khan has identified tourism, agricultural products and border trade as key areas for future development.
The province has set a development goal of becoming an internationally recognised quality tourism destination, a centre for safe agriculture, and a future economic corridor through Singkhon, while promoting a happy society guided by the philosophy of the sufficiency economy.
