What’s on in Hua Hin: Five major events from Friday
Looking for something to do over the next few days? Four major Hua Hin events are taking place in and around the city this weekend before a free nine-day cultural festival begins on Monday.
From live music and illuminated balloons to a beachside dance event and an important annual religious ceremony, there is plenty happening from Cha-am to Pak Nam Pran. Never let it be said there is nothing to do in Hua Hin.
Four events this weekend
Mini Balloon Festival, Pak Nam Pran
Colourful mini hot-air balloons, evening illuminations and live music will take over Maharat Square on the Pak Nam Pran beachfront from Friday to Sunday, 7–9 August.
The Mini Balloon Festival will run from 4pm to 9pm each day. Waen Yai will perform on Friday, followed by Sayamo on Saturday and Serious Bacon on Sunday.
Huay Mongkol robe ceremony
Wat Huay Mongkol will hold its 13th Luang Pu Thuat robe ceremony on Saturday and Sunday, with activities beginning at 5pm each day.
Visitors can join merit-making activities, sign their names on the ceremonial robe cloth and take part in religious ceremonies. The main robe-wrapping ceremony around the large Luang Pu Thuat statue will be held on Sunday.
Kolour at The Standard, Hua Hin
The Standard, Hua Hin will host an afternoon and evening of house and techno music on Saturday, 8 August.
The all-Thai line-up includes Meltmode, An!ka, Ciriya, Bonita Everitt and Martin Everitt. The event begins at 2pm, with tickets available through Kolour.
Cha-am Music Festival
The free Cha-am Music Festival will be held at Cha-am Beach Viewpoint from Friday to Sunday, running from 4pm until midnight.
Friday’s line-up includes UrboyTJ, Yes’sir Days and Rooftop. Zani, Fool Step and Ning the Voice are among the acts performing on Saturday, while Paradox, Timethai and Freehand will take the stage on Sunday.
Nine-day festival begins in Hua Hin on Monday
The “Under the Royal Patronage: Discover Si Khiri Khan” festival will open at Hua Hin Railway Station on Monday, 10 August, and continue until 18 August.
The free festival will feature concerts, cultural performances, exhibitions, decorative lighting, a Thai textile fashion show and more than 100 stalls.
Performers during the nine-day programme include Mr Saxman, Keng Tachaya, Meentra Intira, Mocca Garden, Prae Chana and Kangkeng. Ballroom dancing will close the festival on 18 August.
Free community tourism trips covering four routes will also be available on 13, 14, 17 and 18 August, although advance booking is required.
